I am thinking about to buy a new computer soon, actually I am using windows xp and I think it is very good for the compatibility thing, I have heard about compatibility issues with windows vista but I hope Microsoft with their service pack fix it, I am a programing student and it would be annoying if my program for DOS on c++ don't works fine, but there is not doubt that the apparency of windows vista is great, the 3d style of the desktop rocks but you need to have a good graphic card too.
I think I will keep a computer with windows xp if windows vista don't let me work with my programs in c++.

I hate to be a nay sayer and although I believe in time all my complaints will be addressed, be ready for COMPATIBITY ISSUES. You will have to get downloads for driver, some are not available yet. I cannot use my quicken 2006, My New HP printer, there are others i can't remember off the top on my head, Oh yeah My Space music downloader SNOCAP. I paid for downloads I can't get. I am not happy. I am going to write a product review for AC. My Dreamweaver, new last year crashes. I am a graphic artist by trade and it is annoying.

My current computer compliments of Dell is Vista run. I like it although the security is a bit paranoid. It works smoothly and I have much better luck getting all I do done. When it comes on the computer straight from the company I think it works much better than an upgrade. Good luck with yours. I hope it works just as well for you.

I recently purchased a Laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. It expensive at the first go. It is really superb far more advanced than XP both in appearence and security features. I think you sholild have heard of Windows Aero , you will be far more suprised when you see it live. As such it does not have flaws , But ti has some shortcomings. Minimun memory requirement is 1 GB of ram but for better performance use 2 + Gb of RAM. It has a few shortcomings , It does not support many dos-based programmes in 16-bit mode. Turbo C++ is only viewable in half screen even after you maximise. But dont you worry , they will have solution and service packs soon. If you are getting Vista-get the Home Premium or Ultimate. I recomend Ultimate as it has supreme features.
Good LUCK !!! Have a new computer rocking !!!
