Ok..mylot...tell me how you feel about these songs being played on the radio. Currently there is one particular song I am concerned about....it goes "my girl's got a girlfriend"...Basically talking about a guy who finds out that his girlfriend has a girlfriend herself. Now I am no ...angel...but come on...this song is being played on local radio stations and kids listen to these stations as well. Do I change the station? Do I explain if they ask what the song means? Even worse...it has a catchy tune and it can infect the minds on young children. I have even walked into after care and seen the counselors blasting the radio innocently playing music so the kids can dance. But who knows what is on the stations play list. I can't keep an eye on the kids 24/7 I have to work, sleep just like everyone else. Am i over reacting or what?

I am pretty indifferent to what music is played on the radio because we usually only listen to CDs. When I personally put on the radio I try to monitor what my son listens to when he is with me. 99.9% of what we listen to is rock and there are not that many off color songs that are played on the rock station here (if worse comes to worse I put the "oldies" rock station on and just feel old for knowing a song that was made in 1989!). I know I can't control what he hears other places or even with his dad (I can only imagine). At 8, he doesn't "get" most music and if he repeats something he heard that is not appropriate, we let him know that is it and why it is inappropriate.
