Liverpool have been linked with a host of World Class stikers, but there has been minimal movement on Liverpools behalf, Benetiz is cleary waiting for the La Liga Season to finish, which finishes this weekend, if you may not have noticed, he is a keen fan of spanish players, and where are the majoiry of the all...Spain! By the end of next week there will more concrete rumours surrounding World Class Players, or will he have to buy cheap and settle for squad players?... discuss

I think Fred the Brazilian striker at Lyon would eb a good buy. He's young (23) and has a good goal scoring record at Lyon (Champions League included) He would be quite cheap and has alot of pace, I also think we should get Owen trigger his £9M release clause we've got a bargain! I think we may be going for Bent though, which wouldn't be too bad - Proven in the Premiership young (23) and is English. His price tag seems a bit steep though.

Im not optimistic at the moment of us making the signings we need to challenge for the title next season. The rumours linking us with players like Eto'oo, Villa & Tevez seem to have dried up & instead (if you believe the press) we are making a 1mil bid for Yossi Benayoun! Whts going on?!
It may just be paper talk but i always believe there is no smoke without fire & the fact that were being linked with players of a lower standard than previously appears to stem from comments made by Gillett that Rafa may not have the kind of money to spend that we all thought he would be given.
The figure being spoken about at the moment re: transfer kitty is 20mil + income from any transfers so we can expect maybe 35mil at best. Personally if this was the case i would spend it all on 1 out of Eto'oo, Villa, Tevez or the bulk of it on Torres as i would like to see 1 world class signing as oppose to several mediocre ones (as we have seen all too many times in previous seasons).
However, i think Rafa will try and bring in at least 1 striker (maybe 2), a winger and a defender and ive heard that privately he has reservations about signing Fernando Torres. In this case, strikers are more likely to be Darren Bent (15 mil?) or Michael Owen (9 mil).
I would personally go for Michael as, injury permitting, he will guarantee us 15+ goals in the league. His relitavely low price would also free up some cash for Rafa to strengthen other areas of the team.
However, i would make Bent favourite to become our new striker at the moment given that Rafa appeared to be lukewarm on the idea of signing Michael when Real Madrid decided to sell him 2 years ago.

Im not to worried about the apparent lack of cash available, i think its just paper talk and have more faith in the club.
If i could chose any 2 players i would probably choose Eto and Torres.
Eto has the pace and the ability to go at players with a clean finish and a body made of elastic to get himself out of almost impossible situations and Torres has great technique and awareness and a big backside to roll off defenders and hold onto the ball.
Realistically though i would settle for re-signing Michael Owen. He's a world class striker, none really better than him for putting the ball in the back of the net, pace in abundance and easily a 20 goal a season striker. All that for 8 million and a genuine love for the club.
That would suit me.

There's a good chance that you guys could be re-signing Micheal Owen. He's said to be unhappy at Newcastle and i think that Liverpool might just be the right place for him. There's a great number of youngsters coming through at Anfield too. Should be excellent next season.

Well... I hope to see Tevez to partner with Kuyt... I am really hoping Liverpool will put in more effort to sign Tevez instead of simply signing Forlan... As Rafa is saying right, Liv have to decide fast in order to buy good abd quality players...
