Too Many Metaphors?

Now I am a big sports fan, but I notice this more and more with my boss. He's just someone who totally overuses sports metaphors when talking to us. It's okay for me, cause I get them, but it's funny when other people are like, "huh" or just confused.
For instance, when someone does a good job he says "you knocked one out of the park!" like a home run in baseball. If we're approaching a deadline, he'll say "it's the 4th quarter and there's only a few seconds left" like we're up against the clock.
Do you know someone like this? What are your favorite metaphors? What are some that you have never even heard before? Go ahead and include similes, too... lol.

I'm not a big sports fan but my children play sports. I am their fan. I get to watch a lot of baseball and softball. I catch myself using sports metaphors and sometimes become annoyed with myself.
One that comes to mind now is when I say "we should cover all the bases" I use a few more but I can't think of them now.
I don't mind when other people use sports metaphors but sometimes it does seem out of place or overused.

Yes I know a person like that and he's my philosophy professor.. I heard a lot from him...sometimes I cant help but admitre him... because of his hobby of telling us metaphors we are forced to think of what he was trying to say... I guess sometimes it help and sometimes it does not esp with the people who never like being puzzled... I guess there would be problem with that.

Maybe your boss uses metaphors only to lighten up everything, he does'nt want to be harsh in making follow ups for your deadlines or he wanted to be cool and not to pushy at all. Me, i dont usually use metaphors especially in the workplace because not everybody could grasp it right away.
