why does almost everyone think that if they or a friend or family member dies that they are automaticly going to heaven and where is their or your proof?
this is just too much for me, i know that it's not true because my religous studies tell me so.
What do you think?

I agree with you sunflwrluvr. Those who are going to heaven are those people who believe and accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. John 14:6 says "Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life." Life here means life everlasting (eternity) which is in heaven. Another verse in the bible John 6:47 says,"He that believeth on me (JESUS CHRIST) hath everlasting life."

This is one question we won't find out until we die. It's not really an important question because we can't change anything once we die anyway. If there is a purgatory or waiting area then so what? If we go straight to heaven or hell then great!
But let me ask you this, what point is there in a waiting area? Why would our eternal destiny be delayed?

Oops! I'm sorry I misread your question.
I don't know. I think people feel comforted in the fact that they think their loved ones are in Heaven. But it's weird because even some people who don't believe say this. Why?
The only way we'll ever know is when we get to where we're going. The sad truth is that the Bible states that MANY, MANY will be turned away. Many means the majority. Sad. How many people think they are going to Heaven but really won't be?

I have no idea why. I cannot understand if you have a friend or a family member who does not believe in God or just lives a good life, or does not go to church and do what God requires, that they will wind up in heaven. Isn't that what Jesus said to those who said, "Lord, Lord, did we not preach in thy name and in Thy name did many wonderful works?" He told them "Depart ye workers of iniquity===?" I pray that my relatives, in-laws, my husbands and sons will know God, but if they do not, I do not expect to see them in heaven.
