Maybe you can encourage him to get out more or invite a friend over. It must be depressing to get old, lose some of your independence, deal with illnesses. You have to listen to him, but you don't have to encourage his pessimistic behavior. Everyone knows that aging is difficult to deal with, but we also have to aknowledge that boredom is equally crippling. Does he have things around the house to keep him busy?

Yes,he plays the piano,,but i notice he's not playing like before,he jumps notes and missread the music a lot,,,then he gets frustrated and sad,,,this makes me so sad too.Theres some other things he can do around the house but he just want to play and play the piano...he say is his way to escape sadness and depression,,but him not playing well yjr piano makes things hard for him.Well my friend what a hard situation for me this is,,,it dont make me mad but sad,to the point i feel like crying sometimes...

I suggest getting him to his doctor and telling his doctor how he is talking. On top of that get him to see a theripist...Who knows it could be his age that is depressing him or it could be some of his medicines causing him to act like that...but only a trained professional will know for sure.

Just tell him what you have heard and ask him what is wrong. Let him know that you are there for him no matter what, whenever, wherever. Let him know that he's not alone. If he tells you what is wrong and it's something really bad, ask him if he would go with you to talk to someone about it. Good luck!
