My son is 4 1/2 and is fully toilet train but sits on the toilet to pee and some have told me it is fine and others not. He uses toilet paper to to wipe his wees as well which I think it is Hygenic. I would like to hear others views and experiences about this. Also to males do you sit or stand?

I personally think he should learn ho to do it both ways, do to the fact that you don't want hime sitting on public toliets. I have 2 boys and they know both ways. and he'll still be able to tap dry also for drier undies.

He can stand but he doesnt like to I have to be there to help with the paper while standing because one hand is on his willy and the other is keeping his cloths out of the way so he can see where he is aiming :D I've told him to shake it a little but still when he lets go he gets a few dribbles and it's the end of the world...

There is nothing wrong with him sitting for this. I do most of the time and I see nothing wrong with it. The women I know love the fact that I do because their men sometimes miss and it just makes a mess. My opinion is just let him do what he wants.

I don't think there's any hard and fast rule here, it's whatever they're comfortable with that counts. My two boys and my grandsons all learned to stand whilst using the toilet. They had a small wooden box which was used as a step, until they were old enough to reach the toilet properly, and they used this from about two to two and a half years of age. I don't think you're doing anything wrong... as I said, it's how one feels comfortable that matters but when using public toilets outside the home, they probably won't have the choice of sitting, as urinals are installed in most places. Brightest Blessings.

Thank You Darkwing, I suppose he will stand in time when he feels comfortable in doing it. No harm done at the moment...

Well, so far I have only had to deal with girls, but I'm expecting a boy in July. I would say its fine for him to sit. My husband stands, but on the floor in our bathroom I can see where he "drips". ew. plus one guy on here had said in another discussion that his mother had put tissue paper around the toilet and then had him pee...and even though he hit the toilet the mist and drips from it went all over the paper. so he peed sitting down from then on. So I say maybe have him do both..sit at home so that it keeps your bathroom cleaner, and standing up at other places because its probably faster. :)

I dont see any reason why your son cant sit if he wants too. Eventually when he sees other boys standing he will probably do it too, but for now as long as he does his thing in the toilet. Dont worry about it.

well i would suggest to stand and pee. thats what even i do. we all males do it usually standing though it could also be done sitting. Ya the use of tissue paper is fine but just dab it and not rub.

I only have daughters, so don't have this problem. My husband stands to do wees, but if he needs to do a poo he obviously sits down. Sometimes he needs to do a wee at the same time, so points it down. I think it would probably be better if he stood up to do his wees, as when he gets older he will need to use the urinals, and he will need to stand there. However, so long as he is being hygenic, and he is happy that is all that counts.

I have a little cousin who pees sitting when he goes number two, but not when he only needs to pee. I honestly don't see what it's hurting. As soon as some other kid makes light of it in the boy's room in kindergarten, more than likely your son will begin standing like other boys his age. I wouldn't stress on it, really.

Hi pink lily yea it is Hygenic .As your son is well toilet trained ..no worries whether he sits or stands during toilet. It depends which way he feels comfortable.Might be others will differ but I think he gets more inner urine pressure when he stands.
