What exactly is happening with Palestine and the gaza strip??

I don't really understand the happenings and the relativity to the rest of the world of these battles.. for "holy" grounds. I also wonder why these Hamas soldiers fear to show their faces? Surely someone doing the good work of their god would happily show their face and be proud to do it? Or do they know that deep down the thing they do is disgusting and wrong???
I have to say, I'm tiring every second of the islamic faith attempting to defend should evil activities. Killing is wrong.. .that's that. Everyone knows it, so why does it continue???
I would love someone to explain to me though... I recently supported a petition to free Palestine from Israeli grip and terror, but I find that they seem to just enjoy the fighting (even if with themselves) and in fact... it's just another Islamic Jihad...

It is true to say that these people do not know to rule themselves. Sunnis and Shiites will always fight. Now Fatah and Hamas will always fight. Nobody will ever help them to overcome their troubles and unite them. There is nobody in the world cares for their well being. Actually their well being would mean a threat to everybody else. Let them fight now, and after several years they will get tired of fighting one another and others. They will learn to work hard and support a family and be peaceful. It would take years to change the mentality of people.
