Do you doubt God with unanswered prayers?

How do you take unanswered prayers? I have this friend, she finished taking Nursing board exam and wasn't able to pass. She tried so hard to pray, went church everyday, went to confession once a week and everything that she could possibly do just to pass the next board examination. And again she didn't make it... she didn't give up, but for the 3rd time she failed the exam, then there's doubt in faith. She never could understand why couldn't God gave her just this one wish? I told her to keep believing, i know God has better plans for her and i know it's the best for her. I too had these unanswered pleas but i'm still here, believing in His mighty Love for me. I'm blessed with so many things more that i could ever ask for. I believe He knows what's best for me and everything happens for a reason... To all, Do keep the faith, God is always there for us all.

God answers all our prayers in His own time. His time schedule is way different than our time schedule. God does answer ALL prayers. The answer may be No or Wait instead of yes. It is so hard to "Wait on the Lord" , but we must "Be quiet and know that I am God." He is telling us He is in control and He will answer in His own time, God does not get in a hurry. So don't give up, if God says No, then He will open another door, and if He says Wait, then you must be patient and wait on the Lord.

Hi mamacathie!!!It's because we(humans) are weak, blinded by sins we commit. I do admit that sometimes i became impatient about God's answers, but through constant prayers i would find in my heart to always keep the faith and believe that He is always there and he never failed. I also believe that what He planned for me is whats best for me. So is for my friend, i keep telling her to hold on to the Lord and maybe He has greater plans for her.

What do you believe in then? By your avatar it looks like you do Believe in God since you believe in The devil? Do not hate someone due to their religion or wanting help in a question. I would never go and say something like this to you on you postings. This does not even really pertain to what she is asking in the first place. If you are not a believer you can not understand that God has a plan for every one and it is not OUR JOB to judge.

All our prayers are answered by God, the fact is: he only has 3 answeres to our prayers, yes, no and just wait. In most instances, most of my prayers were answered "just wait". It was during waiting time that I doubted God, but i came to realize that he had a good purposefor allowing me to wait. I learned to just trust and rely upon him, to be still and know that He is indeed God... I have proven that God never withold anything good to those who obey him.God bless!

Hmm... I can understand your friend's sentiment, but I believe that God in his own way answers ALL our PRAYERS, the only thing is, sometimes the answer is not as we expect it to be, so we think that God didn't answer our prayers. One point, I don't want to sound harsh, and I don't want to offend but I'd like to state, God helps yes, but we also have to help ourselves, God will put food on the table, but it won't magically appear there, you have to work to get that food in the table. Maybe, just maybe, she lacked in preparing herself for the examinations. She didn't lack in prayers but she lacked in the other stuff, like studying more, or something to that effect... you know...She can't lay the blame on God just because she didn't pass. We should realize that God will show us the way but He will not walk for us. We have to do the walking ourselves in order to get to the point where God wants us to be and where we ourselves wants us to be.

Hi Chaime, i do agree with you... I know it's not right for her to blame God, that's what i told her many times but she is so hardheaded and insisted that she hated God.. a small faith right?. Well, for now i'm still praying for her to realize this.Thank you for the response friend...tc

I believe God is always there for us no matter what. He will always be there in the lowest points of our lives and in happy times. The problem with us is that we tend to question His greatness when things don't turn out the way we want to happen. We easily forget that He knows what he is doing and that everything will turn out fine. There is a country song by Garth Brooks that tackles about unanswered prayers and I like very much. I often refer to it when things don't happen as expected with my life. Here is the lyrics of the song, I hope it would help: Just the other night a hometown football game My wife and I ran into my old high school flame And as I introduced them the past came back to me And I couldn't help but think of the way things used to be She was the one that I'd wanted for all times And each night I'd spend prayin' that God would make her mine And if he'd only grant me this wish I wished back then I'd never ask for anything again Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers She wasn't quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams And I could tell that time had changed me In her eyes too it seemed We tried to talk about the old days There wasn't much we could recall I guess the Lord knows what he's doin' after all And as she walked away and I looked at my wife And then and there I thanked the good Lord For the gifts in my life Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs That just because he may not answer doesn't mean he don't care Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers Some of gods greatest gifts are unanswered... Some of God's greatest gifts are all too often unanswered... Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

Wow!mari_skye i love the lyrics!!! Thank you for sharing this to us all here... Though this song is not familiar to me, i do love the lyrics. It's true to most of us, i myself could say that. Unanswered prayers are sometimes His greatest gift. For He only knows what's best for us. We just have to entrust our lives to Him. keep believing and take care friend...

I always take unanswered prayers as a part of challenge in this life. Everything that we do in this world is under God's observation, and sometimes the things that happened to us is just as a test from God. God wants to see whether we are strong enough to face the challenge, and in facing it we have to have patience and faith. In the end, everything that we do will have a good result if we continue and work hard for it.

Nope WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Challenges and problems come at random thats all...the only problem is, billions are forced liek u to believe problems are such a good thing since the "god" u worship and the church u go to lives off the problems of everyone...and its going too far so stop defedning a bunch of crap fairytales and stop forcing people to believe in "god" It is both annoying and pathetic.....it is driving lives down the drain

As someone says that God answers all kinds of prayer. But his answer can be 'yes', or 'no' or 'wait'. I think whether it is answered according to our expectation or not is a different thing. But I believe God answers all kinds of prayer.

WRONG............................people like u are too deluded. The girl could have passed if she spent time STUDYING instead of wasting her time and money ans giving it to the church, praying to a fictitious "god", confessing her inner secrets to some old paedophile and bending on her knees thinking that this fairy tale will giver her anything. Then u Christians make excuses by saying "Oh u have sinned so "god" hates u" and try to let the person feel sorry and suffer then when the perosn does eevrything for teh church and "god" still does nothing, you make other excuses for ur god by saying "just believe and have faith" then when the person does that and "god" still does nothing u say "Look at me , he loves me and is there for me(even if he really isnt) and claim that all these "blessings" come from him (even if u know damn well ur hardwoking parents gave u those) This is just proof how "loving" and "powerful" ur so called "god" is.H eis just like Santa Claus, something that ur parents make u believe simply because they cant buy u any gift, actually even worse since billions of lives are compromised, millions are slain and trillions of dollars have gone into the hands of professional bums like pastors and priests because of this foolishness So quit making damn excuses for ur "god" .Many people know he aint real and he is full of crap. And btw, not only i doubt him, i dont believe him since he aint there

Hi mycharm88! I don't doubt Him, he always answers us with a Yes, a No and Not Yet! We just have to believe that He knows what is good for us. But I do get hurt when God don't want to give me what I am asking for. I don't know why and I always cry in my prayers telling Him how hurt I am and how I can't go on anymore...and after all the drama I put God through with my cries, I always end up my prayer with Thy Will Be Done...

My Father used to say, "Get off your knees and get your butt in gear." His meaning was that you pray once and you study the rest of those times instead of praying. God only needs to hear a request once. The person needs to get going and make the request a reality. Does your friend have test anxiety? Does she have a learning disability? Or maybe a testing disability? I had a friend who couldn't pass a teaching test, but he had already been teaching for 10 years. He taught vocational cooking. All his students got great jobs cooking in restaurants. He was tested and he found out he had a learning disability. In our country, they gave him free tutoring and the test was read to him. We need Drs. and Nurses in America. My first Dr. had disgraphia, a disability where his writing messed-up his test-taking. So someone transcribed what he said so he could take the test. The knowledge was there, but writing didn't show his ability to diagnose and prescribe. He now uses a taperecorder and someone else transcribes his notes. If she did everything well except for the boards, then there must be a reason why she didn't pass the boards. Find out the reason and you can try to find a solution. If she didn't do well prior to the boards, then maybe she is supposed to do something else with her life. Absolutely excellent topic! Seek and ye shall find.

Very nice response writersedge!!I just don't know why my friend failed the board, maybe it wasn't meant to be, or she lacked something too,i guess only God knows why... I think you're father is right too, and good that you learned it. Life is not that easy so we must do our part to the best that we can do and let God do the rest...

when the timing is not right, when you still need something to change, when you are not yet right. some requests are not given to us by God yet. when we are not yet mature enough to receive His gift. keep praying, dont quit, never doubt, God thinks of our best.

Hi, Well not to losse faith as i believe that unanswered prayers are rewarded in some other form. Other thing, i believe that Prayers must be back up by hard work and proper knowledge, if she was going for test, first she should work hard and prepare properly, Have nice exam and then pray , i am sure i will be fruitfull. Take care

God answers our prayers but not always give us what we wanted. We could be persistent in our prayers and pray for the same prayer over and over again but no result then let us allow the Holy Spirit to change our hearts instead and ask for another, or change our prayer. God knows whats best for us and why there are unanswered prayers? he has his reasons, may be He is trying to teach us something through these events in our lives, or this is just a test and after all things will get better and finally we get a yes after so many tries.

if God doesn't answer to my prayers i don't start doubt.just thinking that he has another plan,no the same as i do and He thinks is not the right moment for what i asked or maybe i don't really need that.or maybe God wants to see if i am really faithful or just believe as long as he helps me.there are several possibilities.only God knows why He really don't answer to al of our prayers
