Here is how it is counted: For each valid response to a discussion, one point. For each discussion that gets at least one valid response, one point. For one comment on a response on someone else's discussion, one point. The admin averages how you are rated and that determines the color of your star. I hope this helps.

As far as I have ever been able to determine, getting best response will not earn you anything. It may contribute to the ranking on the star, I am not sure. I want to point out that a one line response is not really a valid response. You need more than one line in your discussion and more than one line in your response. The longer responses also seem to earn you more money per post.
