Do you HANDWASH dishes or use a DISH WASHER machine?

Singapore

In my country, somehow people feel that it is less enviornmentally friendly to use a dish washer. They also feel that dish washers don't really do a good job of washing the dishes, hence many homes here do not have dish washers. Most people wash their dishes manually. I have been to certain countries in which almost every household uses a dish washer machine because people don't like to do the dishes so it's more convenient this way. How about your country? What's your personal preference? Please share your stories. Thanks.

When I am in Singapore, I do not own a dish washer. After I move to US, there is a dish washer in the apartment. If the dishes are not oily, it is fine to use it. It is not advice for those dishes that are too oily, food that stain or stick pretty tight to the dishes. It can't get off. Moreover, it take longer time than handwash though it is convenient and just throw all dishes into the washer and walk away. I had return to handwash to reduce electricity bill and it is cleaner.

Yeah, I think Singapore food can be really oily and sticky. I guess that's why we tend to feel that the dishwasher can't do as good a job as handwashing it ourselves. Thanks for your reply.

Here most people tend to handwash the dishes. Seldom families will have dish washing machine at home. We wonder whether it can wash the dishes clean.

It is always a good cause to handwash dishes because first, it shows your connection to things you put your food with, second, i always like to clean my plates on-hand because sometimes dishwashers dont really take off the dirt

I don't know which country u r from velvet..But here in india...most people wash dishes with their own hands...maybe because they are not yet familiar with new technology..or because they don't trust it like u said..i have never seen a home where dishwasher is used

I have a dishwater and it matters to me what soap I use to clean them. The one that has like the little cubes or whatever to clean dishes I think doesn't work as well as liquid soap.
