In the Philippines we have a family of man eating creatures we call the Aswangs, These are all half demons in the form of a human in the day but as night falls they change into their demonic or animalistic forms to devour humans, some in the family have similarities of Werewolves, Vampires and Ghouls but all of them are under the same family of what we call human eaters or in my native tongue "INASWANG"The picture shows a depiction of a Manananggal "The Detatched" an old woman or a beautiful woman who detatches herself from her hip and grows wings to fly at night and look for human prey. They usually get drunkards and young men who stay up late and walk around in the dark un attended by their friends. They also victimize children who wander off at night. She has a lot of sub species like the wak wak "The creature that shouts Wak-Wak", a creature similar to the Manananggal but doesnt detatch from its body inorder to fly. these are found mainly in the southern areas of the Philippines while the manananggal is found in the north.
Indonesia and Malaysia have their subspecies of the Manananggal there, They call them Pennangalan or Leyak "The one detatched of" these are also women who instead of being detatched from the hip up they are decapitated and fly off with their stomach, lungs and intestines into the night. they leave their bodies inside a vat of vinegar to pickle it and avoid decomposition. The Manananggal just hides her body behind a thicket or a banana tree.
These creatures are still believed in the Philippines especially in the rural areas where these creatures still hide amongst the populace which is their prey...
