Healthy People Are Happy People ...Happy People Are Healthy Too .

There definitely is a relationship between mental and physical health and HAPPINESS. The link between happiness and health is required to be substantiated . 'Laughter -it's the best medicine', thus goes a saying . Certainly it reduces stress and boosts up the immune system . However, in these times there are very few reasons to be happy . Aren't we seeing things in a negative vein ? Our general health deteriorates because of this thinking. It is time that we remain in a physical state of joy in order to be of sound bodily healthy .

Oh yes, I do agree with what you said. I am of the similar opinion that mind and body are linked. When you are happy in your mind, your body will respond in kind. And when your body is healthy, you have a higher likelihood to be happy. So let's go out and be happy, or healthy or both! ;-)

the greatness about human body is this strong relation between the physical and emotional states.. and that we can cure lots of physical sicknesses by only psychological therapies.. Blessed God the creator

I have always heard that laughter can make people better. I like to stay happy but there are times when you just can't help but feel down. I have asthma and even being happy doesn't seem to keep that away. I have heard of stories of people who have beat cancer because of possitive thought and laughter. I am sure that these stories are true. I like to at least think they are true because it gives me hope that I will be able to beat my ilness with laughter too.

In my opinion, healthy people are not necessarily happy people. We all know that. Similarly, happy people might not be healthy people. I do agree there is a relationship between happiness and both the mental and physical health. However, I disagree that we need to remain joyful physically to enjoy a sound healthy body. Happiness is a state of mind. No matter how much a person tries to feel happy or projects happiness, he is never happy if his health is at state. It is true that laughter helps to reduce stress, but some people feel more stressful after a laugh, especially when reality sets in. His health does not improve if he tries to laugh it off. To be happy, one needs to make an effort to strike a balance in maintaining one's health physically, mentally and emotionally.

Hi Sukumar, I fully agree that definitely there is a relationship between mental, physical health and happiness. Healthy people are really happy people. They can think properly and execute a job in a perfect manner whereas it is not possible with people who have sick feeling. I agree with you because though I am intelligent and everything, but I am unable to do certain projects as I am a diabetic patient.

this is so true. healthy people are happy people. a very depressed person is sick deep inside. although if she/he looks healthy outside, emotionally, that person is sick.. something's missing in their lives. even if happiness is difficult to find these days, if you look deep down inside you more, you'll realize that there are lots of reasons you can be happy about... your life, the sun, the stars and moon at night, your food, the birds, your pets, your family, your kids... etc. some just made it difficult to find happiness thus making them feel worthless and sick. but actually, happiness is just right next to us... anne

It is certainly easier to be happy if you feel well. That leaves you less to complain and be sad about. I also believe you call into being what you believe. If you complain a lot about your health, you constantly feel worse. Also, if you feel happy, your body produces chemicals that are good for your health. There are accounts of people healing themselves of serious illnesses by watching funny movies and reading joke books. Joyfulness, whether you laugh or not, is good for you.

I agree a lot with this. There is definitely a relationship between phyical & mental health. Did you know that stress is the number one cause of cancer? Too much negativity can lead to depression. It becomes a viscious cycle. People need to take more jopy in simple things, such as nature, their pets, etc.

Yes, Sukumar, there is a huge relationship betweenmental and physical health and happiness! The power of positive thinking has so much to do with our mental and physical wellbeing. Even in a bad situation, if we can handle it with positive thinking and stay on the lighter side of thought, we are able to handle the situations so much easier. Yes, laughter is the best medicine in many, many cases. I know myself that if we can laugh int he times of bad situations then it eases up the tension and helps us to think clearer. Positive thinking definitely will develope a healthier body.

I completely agree with this. There are so many things that contribute to happiness as far as health goes. Like a healthy balanced diet can contribute to happiness as well. There are too many people living on fast food diets. No wonder there are so many unhappy people. How can you be happy living on a greasy diet like that especially if you don't get any exercise? I always feel so much better after I exercise.

All of us are seeing some aspects with a negtive view. This is due to our desire to gain all the things. As budha said desire is the reason for sorrow.

I totally agree with you. I have been depressed for a little while now, and thus I haven't been laughing hardly at all. Usually though, I am always a funny person and I love to cut up and have a good time. Laughter is definitely food the soul, but I guess my soul's been starving for a little while now.

Are you saying that in these times there are few things to be happy about? I cannot agree with that. Granted there appears to be any number of negatives that seem to take center stage. But on an individual level, I am willing to bet you could find a never ending number of things to be thankful for. And who determines what is a negative for us? The always silly and negative media? NO way!.. Each of us can choose to see ourselves in a positive way. When you are thankful for everything you have now, you create your world from the inside out. Change your inner world and the outside world changes the same way. As you see yourself, you see the world. No one has the right to determine what is neggative in your world and you always have a choice to see everything from the optimistic side. I think that our thinking has everything to do with our health. And I wish good health and much happiness for you.

I know plenty of healthy people, sukumar, who are not necessarily happy. It is difficult to achieve true happiness. I don't understand how we can "remain in a physical state of joy" when there are so many horrific things happening in the world around us all of the time.

A healthy mind in a healthy body is the complete definition of health, just a healthy body is not sufficient - peace of mind and happiness are very important. Yes we do see a lot of negative things in the media and around us, but there is still humor left in the World and even on mylot I have found people having very positive attitude towards life.
