Selling stuff because you NEED the money

Imagine you are in a situation where you need money ASAP and you don't have it! What would be the first things from your home that you would sell to try and get the money you need? No, I am not in this situation, but saw a TV show last night, where a young guy was trying to come up with money asap, as he had 40 lap dances that evening for $60 a piece and didnt have the money to pay the bill, oopsie! For me, it would depend on how much I would need, but I would sell my laptop and bedroom tv. Hopefully that would be enough! If I needed more I'd have to sell things like my clothes and what not.

Thanks for the laugh! 40 lap dances? He must have ended up washing dishes at that place or worse yet I hope he didn't end up in a hospital! I actually started out selling on ebay with stuff that I had in my house and didn't need or want any more. It was a great way to get rid of it all and make some money in the process. I'm happy that your not in the situation!

oops....I didn't really answer your question did I? I think I would sell all the clothes that don't fit me any more since I've lost weight. Other than that I have a large shelving unit that I hate and would get rid of in a minute.

Isnt that hilarious?! It was some cop show, the guy got pulled over, and didn't have his license or anything. The lap dance place held onto it. hahaha

I guess I would have a yard sale at my parent's (I can't have one, I live in an apartment) and try to get money by selling my paltry belongings. If that didn't work, I'd reluctantly sell my car and depend on others for rides.

Yeah, I'd try a yard sale too. My car isn't paid for..so that wouldn't even be an option for me, yikes!

Well, luckily I have a few outdoors items that could go first...like my boat, horse trailer, camper, then my 2 mares....if that did not get it....I would be in serious trouble....LOL

I've been in that situation before. Although I wasn't paying for lap dances, just bills. I've sold CDs, movies, books, clothes, jewelry, guitar accessories, collectibles, fabric that I hadn't gotten around to using, etc. Basically went thru everything I owned and pulled out everything that I hadn't used in 6 months and sold it.

Well that would stink- What an idiot- lap dances and had to sell stuff- I'm not sure where I would start- I guess by selling clothes that didn't fit-- yard sale stuff- Probably tv's next- Boy I would hope not to ever be in that situation.

I've never been in that situation, but if I was, probably the first thing I would try to sell would be a bunch of junk down in the basement. I'm not even sure what all is down there. It's been boxed up the whole time I've been married (over 2 years). And most of it was boxed up long before that even. My parents just packed it right on in the uhaul, too, when I moved up here. Some of it probably isn't mine, but no one in my family has called to complain about missing stuff yet. lol If there wasn't anything that we could sell in those boxes, there is a TV and VCR that are both in working order down there. They could be sold. Or some of Elliott's old stuff that we are holding onto for our next child. We have lots of baby clothes, a walker, playpen, jumperoo, carseats, etc. I don't think I would sell either of the two computers that we actually use. But the other two could be sold. Selling the TV's in the bedrooms and living room would also be a last resort.

This is the list of my selling items: http://bansalangin.sulit.com.ph/. Pls do let me know if you are interested to buy anything ok?

I could probably sell my stereo since we don't use it much anyway, it just kinda sits in the loungeroom gathering dust! I have a spare car sitting outside that i could part with, we also have clothes, movies, CD's an old washing machine & stuff like that. I haven't had to do that thankfully but if the need ever arose then i'm sure i could come up with a bit of money in an emergency. My Mum would lend me the money if i needed it too so that would also be an option i guess.

Well, I would sell a desk that I don't use, some unused clothes, some of my pc games. (Civ 4, Rollercoaster tycoon...etc) Sell all of my WarHammer Minifigs and books about it. If that's still not enough, I would go get a loan and a job...and pay it off asap also.

I don't have much of any value to sell, but it would probably have to be the car.

TV would be the first to go. Of course, we don't have a big modern one, so it would bring much cash. I have tons of books. I could always sell them. It would help clean the place out. I really don't have much that is terribly valuable. If I had a market I'd sell my paintings. I'd hate to sell them for less than they are worth, but if I really needed the money I guess I would do it. Maybe I'd have a bake sale! :-)

I can tell you that I've been in that situation quite a few times. The latest I can remember was selling my Playstation (PSX/PS2) games for as much money as they were willing to pay me. I wasn't looking for a lot money out of these games, but every little bit counts.

I would try and sell my brother. No, I'm just kidding, I really don't know what I would sell, but when I was reading your post that was the first thing that came to mind and I just couldn't not say it. I really love him, but I also love to pick on him. We have one of those nice love/hate relationships... ha.

Unfortunately my fiance thinks that selling our (read:his) musical equipment would be a good idea. I, on the other hand think that our bedroom tv, and possibly the living room tv would be the best ideas. If that wasn't enough, I guess the only other things really of value would either be video game consoles or guitars. The last thing I'd ever want to sell is his musical equipment though, as he's too talented to give up something so important.
