Ballpoint or felt tip?

Seriously, yes this is about pens. Are you someone who prefers the writing of a ballpoint or a felt tip pen? Why do you select the method you do and while we're at do you have a preferred ink color? What do you think you're writing style says about you? i prefer the crisp lines in ball point to the smudging I seem to do with felt tips. For personal correspondence I prefer blue but in the office I tend to select black. I am often complemented for my writing being neat and legible (LOL!). Well, at least some things really are in my control still (LOL).

Ball pen or felt pen -- both create a problem if the cap is not closed and when it gets contact with shirt pockets. Otherwise, I prefer the felt pens though the refills are more expensive.

You are welcome. Any pen which can write is a must, particularly when one goes out.

I love the new gel pens. But it that wasn't available I would use ball point. I do some artistry work and use felt tips for definition but not really for writing.

Great points Charles. Thanks for sharing them :) and welcome to mylot.

Felt tips for colouring and then I'm not that keen on unless they're fine points and artistic ones. (a substitute for brushes) Generally I would ballpoint though. Much clearer to write with and comfortable ~Joey

Im not realy particular about ballpoint pen or flet tip, because nomatter which one i use it doesn't help me improve my writting.....LOl I won't say my writting is very bad but not that neat as i expected...:) In terms of color i prefer blue color, unless i need to high light or underline some sentences or words i will use red color . However ,i prefer to use ballpoint pen which i used to and feel comfortable with.

It's ok if you're writing isn't that good - it just has to be legible! LOL. I agree I'm more comfortable and used to a ballpoint. Thanks for sharing.

I am a bit old fashioned. I prefer the ballpoint pen and if possible a good quality make like Parker. The color is not so important as long as it is blue or black and I like to write with a medium size liner. Felt tip is ok but ball point is somewhat more solid.

Thank you for sharing. With us both being baby boomers it makes sense somewhat - the old fashioned ball points are definitely preferable and I find neater for writing.

I do not prefer writing in a Ball Point because I have heard from my teachers when I was in school, that they actually spoil your handwriting. I love using ink pens with a soft nib or preferabbly those gel pens that you get these days. They increase your speed of writing and give you a neat look.

I also like the new gel pens. I've never before heard that ballpoints spoil yuor handwriting. I'm unfamiliar with the other pen type you're describing. Thanks for your comments.

Black ink, fine tip, ballpoint pen :D That's me! Well, that's my preference anyway! I take a lot of pride in my handwriting and I get compliments on it often (even when I'm rushed and, personally, find it somewhat messy). I find my writing cleaner and sharper with a fine tip. Felt pens I like too -- but not for correspondence. If I'm doing something artsy or even just doodling, felt tips are fun. I admit to being a bit addicted to stationery items anyway LOL I used to adore back to school time just for the new school supplies ;)

i definitely prefer a felt tip. i feel that my writing is better, because the felt tip checks your speed . with a ball point my writing starts getting illegible after some time. although my writing is good too (LOL) . and i work with blue ink . i rarely use black ink, cause with a felt tip the black becomes too dark and sometimes blots.

when choosing a pen i am most likely to go with a ball point and in black ink. I like how ball points write over a felt tip. I have been told too that i have nice legible handwriting, lol I wish they could see my writing when i know that i am the only one that has to read it.LOL

I don't really have a preference between felt tip and ball point, but I do prefer that it be fine line. My handwriting... well... not so good. It changes depending on how my elbow is feeling and how fast I'm writing.

There are very few felt tip pens that I don't like. I just like the way they write and the way the writing looks. However, there are a few ball point pens that just write so smooth and when I am able to use those pens, I prefer them to the felt tip. I tend to prefer to write in blue whenever possible, but a lot of documents at work require the black ink.

I agree, you can write faster with a ballpoint and still read it. Felt tips need time to dry and smudge very easily. Thanks for sharing.

It does not matter what kind of pen it is as long as the ink comes out and it writes. I love to write a lot so all I need is a pen that works.

Old is gold. I prefer using ball point pens I think they give more smooth writing. Whenever i had to appear for my exams i had always used ball point pens co'z i think i could write faster with them instead of using any other pen. Felt tip pens smudge ink all over which i don't like. Ball point pens are easiy to handle.
