ABORTIONS?!?! Should they be Illegal

Should Abortions be illegal? My personal opinion is Yes.I agree that once the "Child is Conceived" It is a baby,it will be born and it will grow into a person. There are so many people who want children and cant have them, and then there are people who fall pregnant and go "O well ill have an abortion" There are more options like adoption,if you dont want to care for your child someone else will. It's hard to say they should be illegal because then you would get people trying to miscarry on purpose and dumping there child.. Which ive been seeing alot on the news and find it quite upsetting! What do you all think?

Until you are personally put into this situation it is very easy to make assumptions and feel that abortion is the wrong choice. However, accidents do happen, couples have made a family and an addition to their family economically or otherwise is not possible so abortion is seen as the best option. You say carry full term and give the child up for adoption. How could this ever work with a couple who already have children, it would be the same as giving one of their other children away. As long as abortion is legal there should be no moral undertone to this discussion. If women choose to abort their unborn child they are not doing anything illegal. This is a part of life we have to accept. I just wish people would have this much passion for all the homeless, abused kids that are in their thousands who have no one to care for them. If you really want to make a difference put all your energy into helping them instead of arguing over an aborted embryo!!

"I just wish people would have this much passion for all the homeless, abused kids that are in their thousands who have no one to care for them. If you really want to make a difference put all your energy into helping them instead of arguing over an aborted embryo!!" Isn't that the truth! Well said!! This goes really for both parties in this issue.

I also agree..homeless kids etc should be cared for as well. But i also care about the "baby" who would be born.. there are more choices to make than just getting rid of the problem..like adoption to a couple who cant have kids.

I think it should remain a legal choice. If you feel it's wrong, then you have the right never to have one. I fully support your right. However other women have different feelings, situation and experiences therefore they should not be forced to give birth against their will. You are correct in saying if it were once again made illegal, woman will try disparate things to rid themselves of unwanted pregnancies. History has already proven this theory as fact, they did and they will.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. Although I'm not a woman I don't think it is anyone's right to tell someone that they have to have a baby. I know way to many ignorant men out there that will put their di*ks into anything wet and not care about what happens afterward. Why make a woman pay for something that was done by not just her? I don't think people should rely on it as much as they do but I don't think it should be illegal either.

listen up...the issue isn't so black and white as you make it. If you don't like abortion don't get one. However, keeping abortion legal keeps women safe. Making abortion illegal will not stop women from trying to terminate their pregnancies. With legal abortion, they can choose to do this safely. Adoption is an option, but not everyone is cut out to give up a child or carry one to full term. Seriously, I can't stand it when people are so close minded about the subject. Don't like abortion? Don't get one! However, keep your theology off my biology!

My facts are just that... FACTS! You ask a doctor about having an abortion, yes there is risks and yes they can be serious. You also have risk with a pregnancy, but you have a higher risk of something going on with an abortion. We can argue this for hours. I'm sticking to my well known facts, probably just as you will yours. This is a discussion that can go round and round.

Foxxee, you really need to tern your comments on yourself becuase your facts are entirely mixed up. Is is very little, almost no risk involved in a legal, medical termination procedure. They are routine procedures done as any other, with the utmost care and sterile environment. All pregnancies are entirely unpredictable and have just as much chance of killing a woman as they have of not causing one single discomfort.

In my opinion, the main abortion issue is who has the most rights - the fetus or the mother? Should the government force women to carry a fetus to term, or should they step back from the issue and let the woman decide for herself? Personally, I find it offensive that the government would actually consider forcing a woman to give birth. Women are not livestock that you can force to give birth so that someone else can benefit from it. Another issue is which choice is more humane. This is a matter of pure perspective, as some people would believe that giving birth to a child and giving it up for adoption is more humane than aborting it. Over one million abortions occur every year in America - there can't possibly be that many couples looking for an infant to adopt. Even if there are, that's that many children that are already in the system that won't get adopted. There exist some people in this world who would rather have an abortion and give at least one child who's less likely to get adopted because he's not an infant a better chance at having a family. It's a small chance of course, but any chance is better than nothing. Finally, there's the health aspect of it. In a study released by Guttmacher Institute in 2005, they found that out of all the women who had abortions, less than 1% experienced complications. Furthermore, they found that the maternal mortality rate amoung women who recieved abortions was 6 or 7 out of 1,000,000, while the maternal mortality rate among women who carried the child to term was 66 per million. Given that information, is it really so surprising as to why a woman would prefer an abortion over carrying a child to term? Abortion is cheaper and statistically safer than child birth - for those with little money, or little desire to risk their health and well-being for a child they don't intend to keep, it's understandable as to why they'd choose abortion.

Well According to me this decision should be given to the girl who is carrying the baby. First of all it depend on the situation, Abortion should be made legal. A girl should have the right to decide if she want to give birth to the child she is carrying. Pregnancy by accident happens a lot specially in our days todays world. So Both the girls and the guy can decide if they want to keep the baby or abort it depending on if they are planning to get married and start a family.

You can always get help. There are programs out there for women who want to adopted their child out, they pay for everything. Plus you can work up until 9 months and if not, like I said there are programs that will pay for living cost and everything up until the baby is born.

I think South Dakota outlawed it a couple years ago, but after the initial shock and outrage, people realized they only had to go to the state border to get a proper abortion. I'm not sure what the current status of legality is, though.

Ugh- and yet another PL wanting to punish women for being poor, being desperate, for being unhealthy, for having a large family already or any one of the countless reasons women may choose to terminate over. BTW- you probably should have written "her cruel act" as I don't know of any men having abortions. And in the US thankfully, it is legal, legal, legal.

Abortion should be absolutely illegal! No buts and ifs. I just hope that people out there should be extra careful when they make out. I think if ever I get pregnant I will continue and give birth the baby. Babies are innocent people and they have the right to live.

I actually agree with you on this. See, we can agree. :] This is a really strong subject to some. But, in my eyes, I don't understand and never have understood why it is legal when in most cases, lets say, a pregnant woman is murdered, well the person who killed the pregnant woman is charged with two murders. So why isn't abortion murder? That is something I have always wondered about. Now, if a small child was raped or anyone at that was raped. I feel abortion should be done, if done before a certain time. But I have mixed emotions on that because I feel like I'm saying it's okay, but it's not. SO I am confused on situations like this. I know the heartbeat can be heard at 5 weeks. So that should say something. It's just sad.

What other kind are we referring to? Wouldn't debating that illegal abortions should be illegal be pointless? It seems to me that you're calling for there to be no such thing as a legal voluntary abortion whatsoever which I don't think is right.

I am not favor to legalized the abortions and it is illegal in our country and punishable by law. Abortion is an absolutely wrong and it is a crime of murder. And absolutely I am not favor for this. And I think the fetus have life and like us she/he have a right to see this wonderful world.

well, I think ultimately yes, however...after reading a bunch of replies from women who are prochoice, I'd say maybe these people shouldnt have babies and the world may be better off that way! =) However, my stance is still pro life and I believe that adoption is the better choice.

I love babies, but I do not plan on, or want to have my own kids. But if I ever get pregnant, no matter what happened, I would not get an abortion. I wouldn't be able to live with it. But that's just who I am. There are some cases where an abortion is...okay. Rape, incest, or the mother is in danger. Those are the only cases I think the mother has a choice. But if a stupid teenager got pregnant because she wasn't careful, than she shouldn't be able to have one. She needs to take responsibility, have the baby, and if she doesn't want to have to take care of it, it goes up for adoption.

Wait huh? I don't think girls who want to get abortions should be able to? I'm just trying to be clear. Girls should be able to get abortions if and only if they were raped, case of incest or if the mother is in danger because of the pregnancy. If there is another thing I missed that would be under the same circumstances then fine...but I don't know how much clearer I can be!

Well, I said if the mother is in danger than fine. And I didn't say having a baby gives them responsiblity. I said they can have it adopted so she doesn't have to be responsible for it. I'm just saying sometimes it's okay and sometimes it isn't. That's MY opinion and I know it. I know others have different views, and I don't judge them for that!

In my opinion I am against abortions unless it is done by for healthy reasons.Further if one country where legally abortions are allowed by the Government, there is no harm. It is equally murdering one person.

I'm surprised by so many persons talking about this topic. It's an old theme and I think it's nonsense to discuss it.Everybody has the right of choosing of their own.So why interfere in others' private affairs? You think she is wrong,so then?arress her?indict her?or somethings else?Come on!It's none of your business. All you can do is condemning her.So why say "illegal"?It has no use.Certainly,I must say you have the right of talking. So go on
