How often do you have a date night?

As I'm sitting here on Mylot on a Friday night I'm remembering those days when every Friday night we had a date night. We would go to dinner and go see a movie. Since having our daughter those date nights have disappeared. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I love my daughter to death. But it's just strange looking back and seeing how much money we would spend each week going out to eat and going to the movies. I really can't remember the last time we had a date night. I know it has been at least 3 or 4 months ago. I guess we are overdue. So how often do you have a date night? And what do you do on your date nights?

We've had two date nights since my son was born 16 months ago. lol Both times it was while we were home on leave. My sister watched the baby both times. We don't want to leave him with a babysitter just so we can go out. We take him with us to go out to eat, and we never really saw many movies at the theater anyway, it's too expensive! It's funny that you started this discussion tonight. I just sent my husband to the store to get ice cream and raisins, so we can watch a movie on our couch. lol I'm leaving Tuesday for three weeks at my parents house for my sister's wedding, and this is the closest we are getting to a date before I go.

Wow my husband and I are doing the exact same thing. He works third shift so it's even harder to do stuff together. Ricky and I usually try to spend at least a couple hours to ourself to just sit at home and watch a movie. It's so much nicer anyway then going out and spending money on dinner and what not.

My gf and I spend as much time as possible with eachother and have a date night at least once a month, as finances and time allow,we go to a movie then to one of our favourite restauarnts,an outdoor place in the summer and a sitdown place in winter ,usually the first one we ever went to together.

None, and still waiting for it. Unfortunately studies has taken so much of my time and life away from me. Although the good news is exams are coming up which holidays will soon follow!

My wife and I have just recently started having date nights again. For the past seven years, she worked the day shift. I worked nights, so we just passed each other coming and going. I just retired three weeks ago. She quit working a few months ago. So we are enjoying each other's company again. Two weeks ago I suggested a date night each Saturday night. I wanted to make sure we do something special once a week instead of just floating along doing whatever comes up. This gives me a chance to treat my wife special. So far it has just been going some place special to eat where we wouldn't normally go. But we both enjoy that, so it is working out very well. I know it is tough for couples with young children. We went through years of that. But we have paid our dues (lol) and can now enjoy our free time. Good luck to all of you. Hang in there. It will get better.

My parents used to go on date nights every Friday night. It was somehow important to me mom, less so to my dad because all they ever did was go out to dinner and then to Starbucks. Since the money issues began no one goes out anymore. My boyfriend and I don't really date nights or anything. We're long distance this summer anyway, but usually we would just hang out with friends or watch movies together.

Up until recently it had been awhile before we had date night with just the two of us. We used to always go out every weekend to dinner & a movie but that was of course before we had our daughter and even though she is almost 4..date nights just got put to the back burner. Its hard sometimes to find a babysitter or were both just comfortable with sitting home watching a movie, until a month ago when I started complaing more about us not getting time to ourselves anymore so we have been having date night twice a month and let me tell you it has been really fun going out with him because it brings back the memories of when you first met and the little things he used to do that made you fall in love with him.
