Why does Diet Coke taste so weird?

I've tried to love Diet Coke, honestly, I have! But, it just tastes weird. Personally, I'd rather have zero calorie flavored tea instead. Can someone please explain to me why Diet Coke tastes so strange. Why can't they make it taste more like regular Coke?

I think maybe because after you drink diet coke, you wont want to drink it anymore..hehe so you get to diet yourself from drinking too much coke..coz if i drink the regular coke, i know that i would definitely drink more hehe

Now that's an original thought! Sort of like weaning the baby off the bottle. But, with diet coke bad taste instead. Well, if that were true, it would be a winnig proposition, cause they've acheived their goal. That stuff stinks.

I don't know, I think they stopped trying to make it seem regular coke, for there are a lot of people who love it the way it is (which is completely different from REAL coke, he he) Here in Argentina we now have Coke Zero, which doesn't have any sugar, but does not taste funny like diet coke. I just love it!!!

hey are u seriously asking that question???? don't you know yet that anything which comes with the tag "DIET" or "LOW-FAT" or something to that effect are all pure crap??? they taste like crap too! never expect such stuff to taste great because they wont.... its no use expecting them to!

Yes I think it is because of the sweetener. But I try the Pepsi max, it taste okay to to me.

I like diet coke, but only out of bottles. I don't like it when it comes out of the cans, it has a different taste and I don't like it. I like the liter bottles or the 24 oz bottles.

I think it tastes so NASTY (not just strange) because of the artificial sweeteners in it. I would rather drink water than a diet soda, that just makes me want to get sick!
