I am playing a game on the internet, it is called Travian. It is a browser game. You play it online. Everytime I play a game I find I am one of the few women and also one of the eldest women. Is it really true that woman seldom play strategic games, at does this become even more less when they age? Ladies, please tell me, why don't you like gaming? Gaming on the Internet, on the computer?

I met my girl friend while playing Delta Force Black Hawk Down lol. After stepping on hundreds of her clays and taking numerous snipes to the head off her she some how won my heart :D Now we are in the same clan community AUA which plays Battle Field 2. Moved in together 2 months back and sometimes play LAN together. I HAVE A COOL GIRL FRIEND!

I am female and 20 i have been playing all kinds of games since i was about 5 so i can't say why ladies dont like playing so much....maybe they prefer to do their hair and make up or something lol. Im a tomboy so dont bother with things like that. Or when they get older they have kids and partners to worry about. I still love playing online games at present i play Knight onlie...good game if you can get in as i am not a premium member. Also i play war rock which is a war game which is pretty cool too and is never full :D This probably doesn't help answer your question of why people dont play but oh well lol

No not really. You are a girl of 20, like my son. You grew up with the computer. People of my generation didn't. At least not from their childhood. I was about your age when computer came and was hooked from day one. I love machines. I love their possibilities, their perfection, they are fast. Wonderfull. I always loved things other girls didn't. But I also love all the stuff lots of girls do, like clothes and makeup and being silly about boys. I am not a girl anymore, I still like all that. People are just different. But still: Why don't they, why do they dispise computers and games?

Well, it is true, that the main market for the gaming industry are male gamers, but there are women out there, including me, that love games and are good at it too. I love console gaming, online gaming, anything, you name it. I guess anyone who ever played anything on a console would be hooked to it, but I guess girls usually get girly presents on their birthdays, whereas little boys are more likely to get a game console as a present which is likely to get them hooked to gaming. So I guess it's a preset opportunity in that case. I don't know of a lot of gamers around here as well, I mean I know some girls, my friends and my sisters who are into it, so it's not really true that girls are not into gaming. They are, but just not that many.

I've been playing roleplaying games for about 20 odd years now. I've played both online and offline games. I think women avoid strategy games because they see it as men's territory. I also think women avoid computer games because most prefer face to face interaction, or at least voice to voice. Older people tend to avoid computer games in general because the technology is difficult to get past. I speak in generalities only. I fully recognize that this is not true of all women or older people. Personally, I avoid strategy games because of the aggression levels most of the participants hit. I prefer the games I play to be fun and casual. This doesn't seem to happen for me with strategy games.
