to all texters! do you always use shortcuts in texting messages? like WHY becomes Y,,, this is what is goiing on now.. but as for me, i don't use shortcuts in texting because i want my receiver to understand easily what i'm texting to him/her. this always happens, someone shortcuts his/her text messages until the receiver will hardly understand what your message is an you will have to repeat sending it...

yes i do. i think it is faster if you use shortcut for words. plus it saves us money, if we are paying PER TEXT/sms.. we have to make the msg shorter so that it will fit the 160 characters.. lol. =D

Yes I do some shortcuts but not all of the words that i want to say, some people especially older ones just like my mother and me too, I am not really familiar with text messaging shortcuts. so that would be quite hard for me to understand what is the sender wants trying to say if i recieved that kind of sms with lots of shortcuts...Well, I am not fond of texting then so i dont mind about shortcuts lol ...

Yes, I do that all the time. The reason is that I want to fit as much of my message as possible into one sms and also I do this so that I can text as fast as I possibly can so that I can send the sms out really quick. :) So far, I haven't had a case where someone misunderstood my sms and that's really because I think most of the shortcuts are quite universally familiar especially if one has been texting for years already. :)

Well yes I also use shortcuts in texting but I don't use the shortcuts here in mylot .. because I believe in typing more and more here. Same just like you -- I write in full so that my friends will understand my language easily. It's good to write in full so that your friend won't feel the need of asking it again what you said.

I don't use shortcuts either. Only for some words I guess, like 'tmrw' or 'msg'. But not for every word in the text message. I have a friend who uses short forms in EVERY word that it was so hard for me to decipher what she was saying. I guess some people wanna make full use of the available characters so that they don't have to pay for an extra sms. :) have a nice day bujoyseth~!

No, because I can spell the word the right way quicker. It takes me forever to use shotcuts..I don't do it very often and maybe if I did, I might use them, but I don't think so..I prefer the long way..

i seem to use shortcuts but not as bad as some other people, sometimes when im writing a text message on my mobile to someone i will write your= ur, u= you, or msg = message, knw=know. i try to write the message fully but then i only get to write half of what i wanted to say.

Well, I usually use shortcuts while texting. I'm a text addict! :) Hahaha most specially I know you are from the Philippines, and we all know it is the texting capital of the world. Anyway, back to the topic, I use shortcuts but I make sure that the shortcuts that I am going to use will be easily understandable by the reciever. :)

yes, to save some spaces. But not always, when i don't have much to say or to replay, i make it to the original words, while if i have many things to say, i cut the words, people who are texters eversince can understand shortcuts letters on the phone. So they are used to understand even the word type is one letter only like "u".

I do but not to a point that it can't be understood by the receiver. Sometimes I delete a letter here and there and I make sure that it can be understood because if he doesn't understand, I'll have to send the whole text all over again...

I don't use the shortcuts b/c I felt like I needed to take a class to learn them. It would take more time to make sure you used the right shortcuts. And I would hate repeating myself. If I was questioned about it, I would say never mind. Just forget it. If you didn't get it the first time, then that's to bad b/c I'm not sending you another message. Then if someone sends me a message with a lot of shortcuts, I respond with "Whatever you say".

I do not usually abbreviate things which I think will only lead confusion to my reader or would hardly understand by the other end. To your example, why making it y, I don't see any problem with that but other words that could have many meanings and if my judgment say, it is no longer understandable by people who is not a text addict fan, I would give the time to write the long and full words.

Yes, I do because I don't have a typing keyboard on my phone. I know some people do, but I don't. Therefore if I do send a text message I usually use abbreviations like ppl, y, wot, bc, and things. Generally I will call before I text message, but if I text message it is imperative to use shortcuts. Pablo

i do shortcut text in texts and online, for the simple reason there just isnt enough space to write everything you want to say in a text without it going on to 2 texts, also it saves time if your online, i think most people now know what m8 or y or l8 and all that means

I use lot of shortcuts when i am talking to my friends or when I am onto orkut. But when it comes to mylot, I avoid using shortcuts, because its against the mylot guidelines and I try to follow the guidelines to my best.

Yes on a few words but not most. Just enough to save space.
