Wikia vs Google

Release of wikia alpha in january disappointed a lot, but the new features added to wikia search are really interesting. This is the same concept which has made wikipedia such a big success. But there are still many doubts and only time will tell which way wikia is going. Publishers may use the "editing feature" to their advantage to prmote their own sites. Wikia is entirely relying on its community to remove such irrelevant edits, but how things will shape up is interesting to watch.

Wikipedia proved to be a great scholar website. I use it a lot on my researches, and I don't find any wrong information. In the same way there are people who mess with it (putting wrong information), there are some good people who fix those wrong information. So, for me, it's easy to do my homework taking a look at Wikipedia. I always sum it up, writing the homework with my own words. This certainly makes it easy to see if there are any wrong informations.

The problem with Wikipedia is the fact that there is getting a lot of misinformation on the site.There are some articles and definitions that have been edited and errors put in. So that is something I think the owners of the site will need to address :-)
