how would you cope if mobile phones / cell phones were not invented?

in this day and age it is almost impossible not to be able to cope with out a mobile phon / cell phone , i canit remmeber what life was like without it , how did people get though to you if you were out and about? , i have to sleep with my mobile phone next to me while i sleep just in case someone needs to get through to me in case of a emergency ?
How did we cope before the great mobile phone?

Same way I do now since I own none of the stuff I do not have a cell phone and feel for those who do because its just one more thing to eat at the brain and deplete it of its ability to work properly so I communicate the old fashion way write a letter use a phone and since I do have a computer I can send emails I think that people have lost contact and perspective in a world of growing technology but will they be able to survive if you take there luxury gadgets away its a toss up I always thought it would be great to live just one day back in the day of horse and buggy.

if only the world was that simple my friend i would love to be able to just live without all this technogoloy but the world has become dependent on it all , i wish it wasnt so , but how do you think you would cope without your computer or the internet?
