My daughter (shes almost 4) doesnt really have a bed time, she doesnt take nap during the day anymore so sometime between 9-10 she will fall asleep for the night. Although I have to get her on a regular bed time because she is starting school in September so she needs to be in bed at 8pm..I know its going to be a struggle for me but it has to be done.

Mine also tends to do what she likes about bedtimes, but she has reached 2, and she is going to pre school next year, so she needs to get regular bed times. when she goes to sleep after 9, i struggle to get her out of bed in the morning.

I also struggle with my daughter to wake her up in the morning when we need to go somwhere early..I tell her if she wouldnt give me such a hard time and go to bed at 8 she wouldnt be tired in the morning so she tells me "okay mommy I wont give you a hard time tonight" which is a total lie because its a battle to just get her in her own bed.
Startting in July she is going to be going to bed at 8pm no if and or butts to it...I just have to really stick to it because so often I will not want to fight with her so I just give in and eventually she falls asleep but I know thats not right.

My girls are all grown up now but always went to bed at 9 at the latest while they were still at school. As they got older they were allowed to read for a while before going to sleep. When they asked why they had to go to bed, I always told them it was because mummy was tired. Even as adults they still go quiet if I say I'm tired.

i hope to teach mine the same values when she gets older. i guess she is still to young to understand reason. but i try to be disciplined. its never too early to start.

It is never too early to start. As soon as my girls were brought home from hospital they went in their cots after the 6 p.m. feed and were given all feeds after that upstairs so I suppose they were used to being in bed early right from the start.

i had much trouble the first year. my girl rolled around since birth and i had trouble keeping her in her cot. she rarely slept the first year anyway.

My boys are 3 and 1, they go to bed between 9 and 10 most nights. i would like it if they went to bed a little earlier but their internal clocks just don't work that way. They both are pretty hyper most of the day, then take late naps which keeps them up later than most.

And the one keeps the other awake. i understand. my daughters cousin lives about 1 mile away and they visit regularly. those nights i can forget about peace and quiet until they decide they had enough.

My boys are between 1 and 2, and tend to go to bed when they are tired. They both take naps during the day but my oldest doesn't take as many as he used to, he usually takes one while his younger brother takes at least two. My youngest usually goes down between 7:30 - 8:30, usually without hesitation while his older brother has given me some problems, so I've started telling him 30 minutes before he goes to bed that its bedtime, and then I tell him he has 15 minutes left and then 10 and 5 and usually by the 5 minute he is grabbing his teddybears and heading toward the bedroom on his own. I know that if I put them on a schedule now that when it comes time for them to go to school they will be used to it.

My son is 2 now and he goes to bed at 8pm. By this time he's usually exhausted and quite ready to go. In fact, sometimes when I'm running a little late, he will come up to me and say "sleep" and proceed to pull me to his room!! LOL!! I'm so glad he does so well sleeping on his own.

Ideally, I want my kids go to bed by 9pm, but I would feel lucky if they are in bed by 9:30pm, since most of the time they won't be in bed till 10 ~ 10:30pm. Way to late as my standard, but no matter what I tried, it just doesn't work. Problems are, they eat slow, bath slow and even worse, working on the homework slow....
