I don't see many kids carrying lunch boxes to school; I almost fell over when I read that there are some schools that are outright banning lunch boxes because they are being used as weapons. I started collecting lunch boxes a couple years ago and often use them to carry things around with me instead of a backpack.
Do you use a lunch box or lunch tote for work or school? If so, what kind?

Are you serious?!? Banning lunch boxes because they could be used as weapons?? I can't believe it. What is the matter with people these days??
My oldest son takes his lunch to school but we use one of those Igloo cooler bags to help keep things cool. They will microwave anything if need be (which he usually does) and it fits into his backpack. He is in a specialized special ed class, though, so he doesn't have the problems with other students that other kids might. I still can't imagine a ban on them. How sad.

My kids don't carry lunch boxes to school. Kids have a tendacy of making fun of other kids who have to pack their lunches. So unless it is a school field that requires a bag lunch. My kids don't bring one. When i use to work. I would take a lunch bag or box to work with me. It was cheaper than eating out every day or buying from the vending machine.

I didn't bring lunch box to school before, I always had my lunch in the canteen with my friends. I started to bring my lunch box when I am working. It's healthier and also saves money. Also, always eating out makes me feel sick, and I don't know what to order sometimes. So, I always prefer to prepare my lunch box and bring it to work.

I had a lunch box in grade school. it had minnie and mickey mouse on it. As i got older i just brown bagged it most of the time. When I got much older I "plastic bagged it" reusing old grocery store bags to carry my stuff.
I do have a few metal lumchboxes that i thought were cute & kept over the years but i never actually used them for carrying lunch around!!

Its just the reverse in the school where my children study. There is no canteen in the school and children carry their own tiffins daily. There is a schedule specifing the food which is to taken to school on specified week days. The schedule is so designed that there would be complete variety of food available in the class at lunch. Each class has a owen which is used by a helper to see that all children have hot food to eat. I like this system as the child learns to eat all kinds of food and at the same time is kept away from junk food. I personally too carry my lunchbox with me to work.

I don't use them. But than again I am a stay at home. So I have no need for one. But my hubby does have one of those small insulated lunch totes. Cool looking.
I can understand the lunchpails being banned in some schools. Unless you have visited or seen a bad school with very bad kids. Than you will realise why a ban had to be put in efefct in the first place.

I haven't carried a lunch box in quite some time. When I do take my lunch to work, it is often just in a plastic bag from a grocery store that I have saved.

If I packed my lunch to go to work, I would probably have a really amazing lunch box, probably something like My Little Pony or maybe even something that I painted/collaged myself. My mom works on Virginia Tech campus and so do I, she usually makes both of us lunch and brings it in. It's fantastic. :)

My sister got me hooked on bento boxes! It's a japanese style lunch box. Mine is 2 levels and orange, with an orange polka-dot top. It's really cute which motivates me to bring my own lunch.
I try my best to pack healthy lunches, and the bento box isn't very big so it helps me with portion control!

Yup, I carry a lunch box to work almost every day. It's an old red plastic lunchbox that I have recovered with a TON of stickers. It's one of a kind.:)
Interestingly, as I was crossing the street this morning, I thought to myself that while my lunchbox has some heft to it while full, and could be used to attempt to fend off a mugger, I really wouldn't do that... it would probably bust open and be broken if I used it as a weapon!
