I inherited a love of butterflies from my Mom. She was affectionately called Misty-Mom because she had a way of making people's eyes mist over with her touching, gentle way of looking at life. She passed away two years ago in April and at her memorial everyone said that butterflies will always remind them of her. I still recall Mom saying, "Butterflies start out in a closed, shadowy, crystalis state, then like people gradually seek the light until they get their wings." Before she died she told me that she would let me know she way okay by sending butterflies in my direction. A few weeks after her 'death' (and my first day in the garden) a butterfly fluttered around my shoulders and landed on a stepping stone. It waited while I ran in the house to grap the camera. I snapped this picture and hung it beside a pictue of my Mom as a reminder that she truly has her wings! Are there others out there who also associate butterflies with growth and transformational change?

Wow that is a beautiful storey :) I do also associate butterflies with growth and transformational change. The way that your mother compared butterflies and people is truly a lovely thing. I am sure that she has her wings now.
