I find this hilarious. Ever fill out those register forms for a website, and it asks you to select the correct birth year?? Well if you scroll up on a lot of them, it will actually give the year 2007--like duh? I don't think a person born this year could fill out a form--On the other flip side, now scroll all the way down..I give the registration for MyPoints here as an example...you scroll down and the last year it gives is 1900--uh, duh? Now I know it's possible to live to 107, but??? Did you ever notice this...and don't you think it's a bit amusing? http://www.mypoints.com/emp/u/index.vm

Yes I have noticed that too, very funny yet very daft. I also find it more annoying as each year I get older, the further I have to scroll down LOL 1969 is far enough as it is :P

Yeah it is. Also when they ask for your state by scrolling. It is much faster to type in the 2 letter abbreviation, I think. Then they ask you about your employment status. A lot of times self-employment is not a choice on the list. Then they want to know your schooling and all they ask is did you graduate from college? Yes I did, but it was a 2 year college. A lot of time they don't have that option listed. Some of the questions are so vauge that you cannot give a true answer. I have filled out hundreds of these things. They do never cease to amaze me.

I have found on most of those pull downs for the state that you can go ahead and type in the state and it will take it.

I think it would be faster in general to type stuff in instead of those scrolls

That 1900 option has amused me for a while. Most of the things I fill out don't have an option for 2007, but that's just as bad. In their fear of leaving someone out, they have become ridiculous.

I never find this but I could be wrong. I just scroll down to find my birth year and never get to the earliest or latest in the list. I guess when I get to 107 I'll still be able to find my birth year in mypoints :)

Yep, I've noticed that on some of them. I've been tempted to put some of the ridiculous dates and see what happens.

That is pretty funny now that I think about it. I think I am going to change my Mylot age to '29'. I remember my mother did something like that in real life, she used to say she was '39 and holding'. I bet she loves signing up to websites where she can say she is a lass of 17 again!

Yeah - looks like anyone from age 0 thru 107 can sign up. I guess that's just to make sure they don't discriminate, although the terms of service usually gives a minimum age of 18 most of the time. I was an admin at one site where you typed in the date. Gotta love those dumb bots who's birth year was like 1865, or 1596, or even 1000.

I've also noticed that when filling out registration forms online. I just laugh, scroll to 1942 (yeah, I'm that old) and go on to next blank. I would prefer that they just let us type in the date. However, I do get a kick out of it.

I agree that 2007 is a little silly, but there you go. My downstairs neighbour lived to 108 and I think if she had possessed enough money, she would have used a computer. She was all there with the wit and brain; in fact, she used to tell some wonderful stories about wartime, so I feel with a little bit of guidance initially, she might have been quite adept at making discussion on here, for example. I sometimes wish I had taken notes and written some of her oral stories. They were indeed very interesting. So, I agree with 1900 being on there, but 2007 is just a little bit out of range. lol. Brightest Blessings.

Hello black cat. It did occurred in my mind before. I can literally use any of the given birth year and I think I will be registered in any of the sites I partake. I better try using 1900. Do you think I will be accepted, LOL! They just keep adding every year. I think that's the standard rules here in the internet world.

I also noticed that and wondered about the same things. However nowadays more and more sites are limited to people above 13 so 1994 is the first year they show. As for the year 1900 they probably want to reach as broad a range of customers as possible so why deny the hypothetical 107 years' old his chance to join the site? :P

It's never really phased me. I've always seen the people who program such forms as just regarding the data as numbers; they're just doing their jobs, enabling input fields for websites. They probably don't concentrate very much on making sure every number is specifically logical.

Sorry to double post, but I just wanted to add that at least the above is the way I feel when I'm doing repetitive HTML work for hours.

Yea I think it is amusing but also tiresome. You gotta like either start from 1900 all the way to 1981 just to find my birth year. I think it is part of the system and cannot be configured. However, they should just leave it blank as I think that typing it out is more convenient. :p

I like the 2007 models. They're so amusing. I mean, it makes sense, the 1900 one, though unlikely. But 2007?!? WTF?!? XD

lol, yep. I have noticed it and not only 2007 but 06, 05, 04 maybe a few more.. unless of course, you have a real computer prodigy on your hands.. now as for the 1900 I used to think that a bit out there until i actually met a guy 103 years old who is as big a computer addict as we are.. he uses it every minute they'll let him in the facility where he now lives. He even taught computer classes to other residents, and taught me a thing or three as well. Admittedly he is unusual but he's there lol.

Oh and one day I was filling out an order form online. It asked for your credit card expiration date and had 2006 and 2005 on the dropdown.. Hello.. if my card went out in 2005, they're gonna accept it??

Yeup. I've noticed that. It doesn't amuse me one bit LOL. It just makes me feel old because I have to scroll up sooooooo far to get to the date I was born.

Yeah I've noticed that. It's ok when they put 2007 first (although that's stupid to because do you think that an 1 year old baby surfs?) but when you have to go from 1900 and scroll down to 1981 that's really annoying!
