Beliefs we live by

What matters so much to you that it would cause you to walk away from a job or a group of people you have spent a lot of time with? What principles or beliefs do you live by, regardless of what it costs? I stand by ethics and integrity. Honesty I place above all else and anyone I'm doing business with needs to be ethical or they will not be getting my business or support in their again. To me these things matter that much and always will. What do you stand on?

I try to live by the Bible. I won't stand in judgment of other people's actions, but if I am asked to violate my beliefs I won't hesitate to walk away. I don't want to be asked to practive deceit, spy on other employees, and I don't want to be a part of vicious office gossip.

That is exactly why I am unemployed today. I walked away from all that nonsense. I won't support a company that supports these behaviors.

In the long run it pays to stand by your beliefs, don't you think? And it makes it much easier to live with ourselves.

For sure. I can't live any other way. I tried during a real low point in my life and it just helped wreck me more. I stand by my beliefs always now. No one and no pay is worth my compromise.

one of my beliefs is that you are what you think and believe in. if you think you're lucky, pretty, rich or successful, then you are.

I know of what you're speaking and I don't disagree. I was asking for more of a personal, deeper who you are than that. Do you have beliefs you live by or can anyone anyway treat you however and you will take it always?

Well it depends on the circumstances and the situation. If someone were to be a bad person, then I would no longer associate with them. If a company I was working for was involved in bad stuff, I would leave. I could not work for a place that handles illegal practices.

You are my kind of person! Thank you for your thoughts on this. I feel absolutely the same and have proven it both with individuals and a work place. Not for me, no thanks :)

I live for fairness and equality, by sharing what I know is best for each and every problems. I also give my best in every thing I do, try not to disappoint people's expectations. And I also try to forgive everyone, whom have caused me trouble..

Those are very idealistic goals you've set. It sounds more like it's politically correct than anything else. It doesn't really say anything about you. It's ok to be you here, really.

I don't believe in being made a slave or to do something which isn't in my contact/duty. I've worked as a waiter since school and one those times the managers and staff would ask me to do other roles which I happily did but it became a point where it was getting on my nerves as no one else was willing. (always myself) After awhile I just said no and they didn't like that. (which is among the reason of why they let me go) Funny how they thought someone would listen to there lies :) ~Joey

I'm glad you stood up for yourself even though it cost your job. It's not worth working for someone who forces us to compromise. Thanks for commenting:)

I once worked for a non-profit organization. The organization took money from supporters and sent them to children in 3rd world countries to feed and clothe them. Yet this company managed to build a new state of the art buidling in which they expanded to twice its size two years later. In the building they have statues of children throughout. They say they were donated but even then, if someone wanted to donate thousands of dollars for a statue of a child instead of actually giving it to a thousand children, I'd think the company has bigger issues going on here. The company used to be amazing...the best place I had ever worked but very quickly it turned into something else. I walked away from that job.

I understand why. They sound like they had their priorities totally screwed up. Good for you. I know it's hard to leave something you love doing but sometimes it's all we can do. Thanks for sharing :)
