I raise pomeranians and I feed them Purina puppy chow, up to age 6 months. then I put them on Purina Beneful. Chihuahua and pomeranian are close in size. My vet told my wife that after 4-6 months the puppy doesn't need puppy food they should be on dog food.

Thanks for the input! My puppy is just under 4 pounds at 7 months. He was the runt and wasn't gaining weight for awhile but now is just fine! I know that when I do change his food I should mix it in with his puppy food so that it is a gradual change over. Maybe after his current bag of food is empty I will think about changing his food over.
