My personal take on the matter is that we are a good side; but not good enough to challenge for the title with the personnel we currently possess. What we desparately need is a goal scorer and a creative midfeilder. i think teves would fit the bill perfectly. any other suggestions?

I definitely agree that we are a good side that could really challenge for th epremiership title next season. Our team seriously lack a good and clinical goalscorer.I think that Pennant is a great winger who assissts in goals but i think we need another winger with calibre.Maybe we should bring in Joaquin Sanchez from Valencia for the wings and maybe David Villa from Valencia or Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid.Hopefully at least one of them could come to Liverpool as they would definitely help us in the quest of wresting the premiership title from either Chelsea or Manchester United. The Liverpool midfield is already pack as it is so i hope Benitez wouldn't buy anymore except for the wings. We can't have our Captain not at his best and most effective position.I'm not so sure that Tevez would be able to fit the bill as i don't really see him play much, however from what i know of him he had contributed to the fact that west ham wasn't relegated to the next division.

i hadn't really thought about those two; and thinking about it i don't see them leaving spain to come to england; they are touch players who ithink wouldn't fit into the fast pace and bustle of the english game. i was thinking more on the line of a return of owen or et'o as he semms certain to leave barcelonia.

I agree that LFC need a good winger and a capable proven goalscorer. It seems that Pennant is good but sometimes is too erratic and tend to lose the ball quite easily, whilst Gonzales is inconsistent. I like creative players like Kewell and Louis Garcia better if they can overcome their injury problem 100%. How nice if Liverpool can get Christiano Ronaldo, but I'm sure Sir Alex will never let him go at any price!! Defensively Carragher and Agger is proving to be a solid pairing. I hope the new signing Lucas Leiva will excel. In central midfield, Captain Stevie G and Alonso are capable of driving the team. Only upfront there are worries as we do not have a prolific goal poacher, well not in Crouch, Bellamy or Kuyt anyway. Although Crouch has improved tremendously, he has not been scoring regularly. David Villa is an excellent prospect and if Owen comes back, that would be wonderful. Go Liverpool!!!

We only need 3/4 players to take us to the level we need to challenge. We all know the areas we need to strengthen - World Class Striker, Left Wing, Right Wing, Central Defender, possibly Left Back. The main thing we need is to be more consistant, thats why we should not buy to many players. We need to use the same basic team as last term, but add just one or two of the new signings we will make. This will make the team flow more with understanding leading to more consistant performances and also not a bad start to the season like last time...

Am of the view that we have the best players around , I think what Bantez should do is to make use of the available players. Am very sure Crouch can do better than he's doing now and it only takes time to have him back on form. So besides signing other guys i think we should retain the people we have and just make good use of them.

Agree that we need a proven goal scorer. Im looking at Eto'o but he is unproven at the premier league. Tevez has shown that he can score goals in EPL. And we need better wingers. No offence but Gonzales and Pennant just doesnt fit the bill.

Definitely Villa, reinforced with Mancini on the right/left, and perhaps another striker to suppliment (in case of injuries). Then again - we've got a bunch of youngsters like Hammill and Anderson who would be great. I don't think we would challenge for the title not this season anyway....but i say we'd give them a pretty good run.
