Well as soon as I read about Black Entertainment TV I thought that why it not considered racist to name a TV Channel Black but if a channel was named "White Entertainment TV" it will be called racist. What do you think?

I totally agree! It's the same thing as black history month, there isn't a white history month. And what of organizations that are for only black people? If we had organizations for only white people they would call that racist and say that it is discrimination. It's kind of absurd. There are a lot of double standards out there when it comes to the race issue, and I think it is all stupid. It was a long time ago that there were slaves and it certainly wasn't anyone in this generation that enslaved anybody. I wish the world could just grow up a little bit. It's 2007 for goodness sake!

all this issue will always date back to history. there will always be a certain degree of uncertainty and insecurity in the blacks and the other colored races. the colored ones cannot be blamed for this. until now, a lot of caucasians still look down upon the coloreds. this is a fact which no one can deny. so the coloreds are continuously fighting for their seemingly worth fighting for places on earth.
this is a bad thing though about considering it racist if anything at all devoted for the whites shall be put up but, anything that is catered solely for the blacks are not. i know that these points are still very much evident in lots of scenes in real life drama and in the movies and television.

I don't think it is racist-- I think it is odd-- Why would they name a channel that -- I have watched it at times- But I am not racist so why would a channel have mostly black people on it? It's odd- My favorite actor is Will Smith-- but if he was only shown on BET I wouldn't watch it- only because it is odd.

racism will never be ended unless people will start to forget connecting colors to people. when we hear of black entertainment, let us not be thinking in terms of the people who are black, instead let us just take it as we hear of it. if no one gets bothered anymore about the connotations that color brings, racism will not be much of a bother anymore.
in our country, when we talk of the race and color of people, it is only because it is a matter of description and nothing more. maybe it is because, we have been exposed to the coming in of various kinds of peoples throughout the world from beginnings which cannot be fully rooted by history.

I actually find this to be extremely racist. On BET all they play is rap and hip hop. They have actually created a channel called CMT for country music. They dont call it White music television. Are they assuming that all black people are ghetto, from the hood, wear grills, wear large clothing, and like to rap. This is so not true,. I have many black friends who are actually on more of the PUNK side and Rock.
