Monty Python & The Holy Grail has got to be one of the most quoted in movie history. Not only do we all seem to know the lines, we can't help but try our best at copying the accents and voices when we do it. My wife hates the film itself (I had friends who were shocked I would still marry her after learning about this fatal flaw ;~D ). However, she laughs her head of when people try to mimic the actors' and their lines. She says it would be great if they went around the world, getting people to do the quotes, then remaking the whole movie using the footage from it. ;~D I think it would be hilarious! What do you think?

LOL, that's a great idea! I knew most of the movie from people around me quoting it,so when I actually got to see it, it was a bit of a let down!

I didn't care a thing about Monty Python until I met my husband, but it's all he talked about. So wanting to impress him, I rented both The Holy Grail and Life of Brian so that I could surprise him with some quotes of my own. I ended up loving them and we spent many a night snuggled up together watching the movies and the sketches. I still do the "Silly Walk" to make him laugh! It's funny though how film quotes become part of our daily lives, isn't it?

Hello ParaTed, Hubby & I still can't say certain words without adding a touch of a Brittish accent. And, we haven't seen the film in a decade. Of course, we saw it so many times in our twenties, that we memorized most of it! I think your wife has a great idea! All the MP-Holy Grailers would get a kick out of knowing that they're not the only one's who can't utter the words neat & shrubbery, without employing a mental reference to the movie.

I know what you mean! Imagine me trying to keep a straight face on guard duty when I had to say "who goes there?"

Hi ParaTed, Yes, I can see how that would be exceedingly difficult. Of course, the same difficulty arises when using two fingers bent downward, as an accompanying descriptive of any animal with "big, pointy teeth".

I can't tell you how heartened I am to hear that Python humour is appreciated in other parts of the world. There is hope for the Universe yet. haha

The funniest movie ever made, hands down. And if you like it as much as I do then "You're a looney". I don't know if I can even pick my favorite scene, virtually every scene still has me ROFL. My husband will still catch me offguard once in a while and come home from work with a scowl on his face.. I'll say "What's wrong honey?" and he'll say, "Oh I was so sick all day, felt terrible." Then he'll get a big grin on his face and say "I got better". Which is twice as funny considering he's imitating British English with a southern Missouri accent. We still watch it about 4 or 5 times a year and it always makes us laugh.

Yeah, I quit counting at 30 times, and that was all back in the days of midnight movies. When people tell me how mean or rude someone was, I like to say, "What did he do, nibble your bum" ;~D

I must admit that to me the that movie is hilarious. I've seen it over 100 times and I still find it funny. The first time I saw it, I'll admit it made my head hurt because its just stupid as hell. However, the more I watched the the funnier it got, mainly because its just so damn stupid. It also helps that I'm an active member of the SCA so anytime we have events we watched the movie drunk. Frankly I love all the Monty Python movies. I'm a sucker for british comedy.

I bet it's pretty big among SCA members... being so full of creative anachronisms itself. ;~D

I love Monty Python and a lots of things spring to mind one of the songs lines in the nights of camerlot that has stuck in my head is. Between our guest, we seek incest and impersonate clark gable. I have no idea why this still make me laugh but shrubbery is the other thing. If someone is down I always feel like sing look on the bright side of life.

That would probably be really funny. You could probably convince most fans of the movie to actually ACT it out while they did the quotes.
