Who does the dishes in your family?

So, I have been doing the dishes for the past few weeks. It is annoying because I don't like doing the dishes! The smell, and the water makes my hands dry. However, since no one likes doing them in my house, I wash them. I thought we should each take turns.
We don't have a dishwasher so we have to wash them by hand. In fact my family that has dishwasher machine say they have to first rinse the dishes, so I think it is more complicated!
Do you have a dishwasher machine or do you manually wash them? How do you decide in your family who was the dishes? Do you take turns? Is it fair to have the same person wash the dishes?
Let's discuss about washing dishes!

Well, who likes doing the dishes, dude? I have been doing them for years. Touch my hands and you might mistaken them for ones belonging to some wizened hag.

Okay, so now I don't feel as bad. No one takes turns in your house either? It is sad that we can't share the chorus in our households. I am not sure why people think that one person should have to do the domestic chores :(.

well,as i am a boy... i dont know how to make dishes... that my mom prepares for everyone in the house... but the cleaning part,i clean my own plates with water alone.... then afterwards my mom cleans it with some bleaching powder or something....
initially as soon as you eat, clean the utensils or the marks would remain and will start to stink...

Yea, I wash them after each meal. Aren't you going to help your mom out? That would be nice if you did and I bet she would be happy if you did. :D

That's a shared chore here between my wife and myself. Most mornings she does them before she leaves for work. I do them at nightime. It's a come and go deal. Sometimes she forgets or gets too busy to wash them. I also tend to not do them all the time either. But it is a shared chore so they are always done daily either way. We don't own a dishwasher either so they're washed by hand.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

When they lived with us we had a dishwasher. So in my eyes
with a dishwasher NOONE did the dishes. The machine did them.

Hey, well someone had to put the in the machine, so who was it? I'm just so curious, and a lot of people tell me that they have to pre-rinse the dishes! :(

Now that's cool! When your children used to be in the house did they help you with the chores? Or did you and your wife do them? Well, that's about it. Have a nice day.

when i was in high school, my mom made an assignment of who's going to wash the dishes..we take turns in short. But now, i have my own family, we have a maid and she's the one doing all the choirs including the dishes of course. here in our country, it's better to wash your dishes manually. dishwasher is not that advisable because for me, it does not take away the dirt completely.
But there's nothing wrong in washing the dishes anyway. i love doing it...,i love water. though, you are right, it will dry your skin, but you can use lotion or moisturizer after washing.

ei,pablo, yes, it's nice to have a maid..it's more convenient because you don't have to do lots of chores after work. She's also the one taking care of my kid..and we are very blessed to have a very reliable and trustful maid. But i do the cooking whenever i get the chance to stay home longer.
But if ever, i'm not working, i won't get a maid. I love doing the chores specially cooking.

That's cool that you used to take turns. I wish we did that. Yes, I would love to have a maid here, but we don't have lots of work to do around here, so I am not sure if it would be effective. Just the dishes and stuff. We wash our own clothes. Hm, is it nice to have a maid? Let me know.

We do wash our dishes manually friend and I am always the person who gets to wash the dishes every after meal. ;) For me, it's not a boring thing to do. I like it a lot. I enjoy watching our utensils, plates and glasses get clean. It may be a routinary task but I do not get tired of it. I just don't know why...maybe I'm just really fond of water that's why. heheheee ..;)

That is cool. It isn't boring to me as I play music in the background, but I was thinking it would be best to take turns for each chore in the house, what do you think?

I always end up doing the dishes here! I hate doing them and we have decided when we move into our new house that we are going to get a dish washer and I really cant wait for that! My partner very rarely washes the dishes for me but I dont mind as he works hard!

Hello! Well, I don't like either, but it has to be done or they get very stinky. Anyway, a dishwasher can be a problem because it can raise your water bill, it can waste more water. It just depends on a lot of things. So I assume that you are stay home and your partner goes and works?
That is very good that you work in the house doing the chores while your partner works at a job. Have a nice day.

Oh, I see. Do you run full loads or do you do partial loads? What type of detergent do you think is the best: the generic or the name brand?

I guess we are lucky as we dont have to pay for water where I live so it wouldnt make that bill any higher as we dont get a bill, I only work one full day a week at the moment until my daughter is a bit older

That's good that you work as a team, I wish my household did that, it just makes sense. So do you have a dishwasher or do you have to wash them manually? Personally I think washing them manually would be fine because I don't like doing all that pre-rinsing. My grandma actually washes them in the dishwater and THEN puts them in the dishwasher. I thought that was too much work!

Cool, what does dd mean? Daughter? Yes, it can be relaxing to do it, especially when I listen to music. Do you wear gloves when you wash them? Do you listen to music when you wash the dishes?

We have a dishwasher. But what we do when hubby is home, is one of us cooks ,and the other loads the dishwasher. That seems pretty fair to us. Now that I am at my parents house for the summer, they do the same thing. my mom cooks and dad loads the dishwasher.I hate washing dishes. I hate the dirty dishwater and all of that. But luckily for the last few years I have always had a dishwasher. Otherwise I would be backed up big time on doing the dishes. With my hubby gone, I think we would be using all paper plates, plastic cups and platic silverware if we didnt have one, haha.

I wouldn't like doing all the pre-rinsing if I had a dishwasher. I don't mind the dirty dish washer, but I think we should have some type of give-and-take relationship, like one person sets the table and cleans up afterwards, one person washes the dishes and one person cooks. In my house, we don't have anything like that :(. It's annoying as heck.
So, tell me if you all have to pre-rinse, and what type of detergent do you use in your dish washer?

It's mostly done by myself since my husband goes to work. I feel since he is looking after the income part, it is my duty to take the responsibility of the household works. Why not? I have lot of time at home along with spending time with my baby and other work and ofcourse mylot is a part of it now.

That's good that you are working at home and your husband is working at work. It can be stressful in both places. Do you expect a lot of each other or are you very accepting? Do you have a dishwasher or do you wash them manually?

I don't like doing the dishes too. It's boring because it is greasy. In China most of families have no dishwasher and they have not been accustomed to useing it.They think it is more complicated! They wash the dishes by hand.In my family I have to doing this sometimes because my parents are old.I am busy and I work hard. But I will doing it when I have time.

Hello! I don't mind the dishwasher, but actually it uses more water than washing them manually. It can be wasteful if you don't run it on a full load.
Oh I see, do your parents cook food and then you wash the dishes? I wish that is what this household did!

Oh, yes! Last time I got water all over my shirt, and I got some food on it from cleaning them. I had to change my shirt. It was upsetting, but it isn't bad cos I can wash my shirt.
