Viewing The Boats.

Ok, I promise this is the last Wedding post I'll do for a good long while LOL, cuz I'm sure you're all sick of hearing about it by now :P Today was the day that my honey and I had to go view the boats for our Wedding. It was great to see our Wedding Planner after having emailed back and forth a fair few times. We actually made it Downtown in plenty of time, but finding parking in the area specified was a nightmare, thanks to the joys of a busy weekend in Downtown Vancouver. We made it with just a minute or two to spare, and she was waiting eagerly for us. We viewed 2 boats. One is called the M.V Eloquent, and the other one is called the M.V Carousel II. Both of them are wonderful boats. They had the tables set up with Glassware and linens and everything to show us how things would look if we chose to use one of them for the Wedding. The smaller one, The M.V Eloquent seats a minimum of 50 people and a maximum of 96. It’s a lovely yacht, but Jeff and I weren’t too keen on it. The buffet would be served downstairs, and the stairs being steep and narrow, we feel it could cause a few issues with people coming and going for food. Not only that, there are no windows downstairs, and things would be lit by a horrible bare bulb light. However, in it’s favor, the deck is fantastic, and I loved the airy feel to the upper seating area. The M.V Carousel II is a gorgeous gorgeous yacht. She has sleek lines, 4 decks and is very roomy. She holds a minimum of 60 people and a maximum of 100. She has a custom dance floor complete with disco lights. The deck that the dance floor is on, is right at water level, so as we dance, we’d get to see the water gliding by the windows. VERY romantic. The downside to the M.V Carousel II is that the outdoor decks are smaller than the M.V Eloquent’s. However, I don’t envision us spending too too much time outdoors till we get to the Howe Sound area. There we get to see Seals, various seabirds and lots of other wildlife. A true natural cruise wedding in some of Canada’s most beautiful nature settings. Both yachts come fully equipped with a Sound System - something my honey is gleefully clapping his hands at (The M.V Carousel II even has Disco lights on the dance floor!), and both come with full bar tending service. They’re both moored almost side by side at the dock right beside the outdoor seating decks of Bridges restaurant. We were informed that when a Wedding is taking place, the patrons of the restaurant are respectful and quiet, and they clap and cheer along with the Wedding guests when the couple are pronounced Man and Wife. Hearing that gave me goosebumps lol. Tomorrow, my honey and I are going to thrash out a preliminary guest list. We were initially going to have the smallest boat in the fleet and just 28 guests, but we hit 28 guests and said “Yeah, but if we don’t invite this person and that, they’re gonna get peeved.” LOL, so we’ve gone for a bigger yacht, and a lot more room for maneuver in terms of the number of guests. We HAVE settled on the bigger yacht as things stand now, but before we make a final decision, we’re going to wait till our Wedding Planner sends the quotes to us. She did say Wednesday, but we told her there's no rush. She has a busy week ahead of her with 2 big weddings next weekend. So, there are the plans for now. We have a Wedding Venue picked out. The marriage ceremony is held at dockside so the marriage commissioner can disembark before the cruise, then we have 5 hours to relax and mingle. I can't wait!

Wow! That all sounds really wonderful. I guess wedding planners are all the rage now. it all sounds so enormously expensive. It's really great that your bloke is getting in on the planning of everything. In Australia the guys usually let the women do everything and they just do as they are told. It seems a bit of a shame to me. It's lovely to hear you so excited and happy. :)

Lol, strangely enough, it's really not that expensive. The guy who showed us round the boats said that because of the rising costs of Weddings these days, people are looking for different and more affordable options. He said he feels that they've done that, and put together a package that's unique, yet affordable. In their office they have a huge notice board with loads of photos and thank you letters from people who used the same package, and they all stressed the same thing - how they LOVED the boats and the cruise, and that they're so glad they chose to do something like that. That, to me, says a lot about their service :o)

Sunset Wedding on board boat - This was a gorgeous sunset wedding following by a sundown cruise in Biscayne Bay in Miami, FL. A perfect setting and a perfect wedding.
Since I've been to two weddings on boats, I'd say you are making a great choice. Both my nephew and my boss had their weddings on board boats (or should I say "ships" since they were pretty big?). In any event, everyone sure had a great time at both of the weddings. I'm attaching a picture of my nephew and his wedding party that was taken on the outside deck right after the wedding ceremony and just before we left the dock to cruise for 3-4 hours in Biscayne Bay off Miami. It was a sundown cruise and very beautiful. My sister is sitting down on the left.

Wow! That photo looks just beautiful! When we viewed the boats, we were told that the best time for the Wedding would be late afternoon/early evening so that we'd arrive back in dock, JUST as it's starting to get dark. I must admit I really like that idea lol. Thanks so much for sharing your views. It reaffirms what I already know - that finally, we made the right choice. :o)
