Do People Believe You?

It's a strange question but one I'd like to know the answer to. Do people generally tend to believe you when you say something?
The reason why I ask is because throughout my life I've always had people thinking I'm not being truthful when I tell them something, which is annoying because I never tells lies and I especially don't exaggerate the truth. I don't get it.
People trust me with their secrets and confide in me a lot, yet when it comes to information they have to question whether I'm being serious or not, and they always seem so sceptical.
Does this happen to you, or am I the only one?

Yes people believe me. They tend to share all their secrets with me. I think my charater and my past tells them that i am trustable. I am very straight forward person and hence people tend to believe me.

But being straightforward can be a curse or a blessing because if you don't hold anything back, I've found that's when people become sceptical. And I know that there are people I've met in the past who have been very straightforward about their pasts, however outrageous, and I've thought maybe they were being untruthful. As I said above, people trust me with their secrets but some people, but I guess those are the people who know me well and they aren't the ones who don't believe me when I tell them things.

I am straight Forward with people who are close to me, my friends and family. I never try to use them or behave in any way which harms our relationship, so they tend to believe me. I am very professional with strangers, what i want to say is that being straight forward with my friends gives them the necessary comfortability and due to that they share a lot of there personal things with me.

Fair enough. I guess friends want you to be straightforward because they know that strangers will probably never tell them the truth if it's something they think they don't want to hear.

that strange. i know that people will not believe a person when he/she had proven history of lying.did you ever lie?and they proved you lie?if that so then that may be the reason. me, they believe whatever i say.

No, I can't say there ever was anything I said to people that wasn't true. The problem is people don't WANT to believe outrageous things when I tell them, because they seem so unbelievable, but that's not my fault. Like if I said I lived with someone famous, I was getting a novel published etc, people are always sceptical. And the funny thing is, they're so quick to believe other people and you know they're the real liars, and that gets to me.
