What made it so appealing? Was it John Travolta?

People may wonder how come Grease was a big hit, when it was simply between a man and a woman. Was it John Travolta? Or was it Danny Zuco? Or was it Olivia Newton-John? Or was it Sandy? Or simply the songs that carried the movie? Or is it the romance? All I know is that I won't ever get tired of wathcing the movie over and over and over again. It still gives me thrill each time I watch it.

honestly, i watched the movie just recently. my boyfriend introduced it to since he is a grease fanatic. basically, i love the songs in the movie. i sing with them. the story is not that complicated but i really like it a lot. probably another factor is that i get to see olivia newton john so young and thin. of course, this is the movie that put john travolta into stardom.

I think it's a little bit of both. I think its danny zuco's attitude and john Travolta's looks i mean he was very very hot. Not so much now though. But grease is one of my FAVS.

I personally think John Travolta is still very hot, he is 20 years older than me and I still love him.

I think it was a combination of all that you mentioned. They happened to cast the right people for the roles, wrote some great songs and a fun script. I think John Travolta and Olivia Newton John played a big role in its success because there was no way I was going to watch Grease 2. I never did and I never will and I believe it was a flop. It would be interesting to see how it does on Broadway. Now I won't get to see it on Broadway but if I were lucky enough I would get to see the Toronto cast. I still don't think it would be the same without JT and ONJ.

I hated Grease 2, it had absolutely nothing to do with the first one and should never have been made as a second, personally I think the second one should have been a reunion one like 10 years later with all the same actors.

I think it a mixture of everything you mentioned, I LOVE John Travolta and have ever since I saw "Grease" as a kid, I was about 2 years old when it cam out and I fell in love with the movie and John Travolta at that young of an age, it is to this day my favorite movie of all time, I know it was the actors and the parts they played along with the whole romance storyline and the great music.
