I have no idea exactly how I did it, to be honest.
I use a digital camera (Olympus Camedia 5.1 megapixel). I had it on the portrait setting (there are settings that allow you to adjust different photo settings but I haven't mastered those yet so I use the standard pre-set settings) and I used a flash.

Interesting effect of the rain drops on the rose and in the background. I think perhaps you need a little more light/fill-in flash. The foggyness just above the main rose is a little disturbing; did you take the pic through a window? Second background rose is also a little disturbing. would like to see a clearer focus on the main subject.
Ultimately a cool effect, really dreamy almost surrealistic feel to the picture, espcially the glitter effect of the water drops way back in the background.

This is a better shot. Adjust the contrast, brightness and sharpness some. Experiment with it. Don't save till you get the best results.

It looks really creative to me - I am no photographer so can not offer any critique.... I just know the sentiment it produces in me as I look at it. (I should mention I may be biased as the yellow rose is my favorite shade of my favorite flower)
this picture I feel the chill of the rain, but at the same time the warmth of the flower. It gives me a sense of peace and hope within me. I smell the freshness of the ozone from the rain - with the sweetness of the rose - it is crisp yet at the same time soft.
perhaps I would title this picture "contradictions"

I think it's a very nice picture. You did a great job. I have never been able to take good close up pictures. Is photography one of your hobbies?

That shot is superb. But I liked the one without the flash as it looks more natural. I too love taking photos of my Lilies and other things in my garden. Here's a shot I took last week of a bee pollinating my Red Rasberry Bush. I love this shot. I own a Canon PowerShot A540. Enjoy the photo taking.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~
