It seems that every time two people get into a disagreement these days one of them will start using words like "bi-polar" or "narcissistic" or "borderline personality" to describe the other.
While amateur psychologists are not usually taken too seriously, it is quite possible that a person who has frequent bouts of irrational behavior is indeed suffering from a bi-polar disorder and might not even be aware of it.
Some lesser known indicators of this disorder include insomnia, jumping from one activity or topic to another, inability to sit still or relax, increase or decrease in appetite and hyperactivity.
These episodes will come and go and there's often to set pattern, but frequently they will deteriorate and shift to the other end of the spectrum, where the person becomes withdrawn and depressed and even suicidal, thus the word "bi-polar" — they are going between the two "poles" or opposite extremes.
