Do you find that you eat more? I certainly have been. I have heard other people say that they can't eat when they are depressed and I am starting to wish I were one of those people. When you are depressed and down, you already don't really feel you have the energy to get up and do things, but then eating like a cow on top of it doesn't help. It seems as I gain weight, I develop a worse body image, and that only makes the whole I'm in feel deeper. What differences do you notice in yourself when you are down?

I am the same way. I tend to eat when I'm depressed. I know that a lot of people pig out when they are depressed. I guess it just takes your mind off of things when you eat. I guess all that you can do when you feel depressed is try to do things for yourself. Try to do something that you really like. Treat yourself to something! Also you could try to do yoga. I know that it's really relaxing and after doing it, it makes me feel better. Plus it can help you lose weight too. So it's win, win!

I use to manage depression, listening musiq, playing violen and i like chocolates, and i feel i get refreshed after having my chocolates. And best remedy is Meditation, try breathing exercise, it will help you balance and handle depression.

everything goes extreme for me when i'm feeling down. either i eat too much or eat almost nothing at all. my body clock goes kapoot too, either i sleep to much or not sleep at all. i read to calm myself during these times. i also try not to stress to much on my to-do list (which i have daily). i walk a lot either on parks or malls. i try to be outdoors as much as possible to have a change of scenery.

there were 2 stages i went thru. 1st time when i had depession about 5 years ago, i put on weight for almost 10 pounds. then 2nd time when i had depression about 3 years ago, i lost weight quickly. but dont think its good, because when you keep eating and your weight keep droping, trust me, its quite scary experience! Are you taking any medicine at the moment? I am now taking Seroxa prescribed by my doctor and i am now recovering, and the eating problem doesn't exist anymore. So please see your doctor for help! Please also understand that mood disorder takes time to heal, so be patient and get family and friends to support you! Good luck!
