Our Shooting Star

I want to tell you about our cat, Star.
She was a Christmas gift for my roomie from her neice, because the dogs tried to eat it at her house. She was so scared and feral that we just left her alone when she first came. All we ever saw of her was a siamese colored streak as she ran from one hiding spot to another.
One evening the former roomie, who was still here then, told us that she saw "a siamese colored meteorite." Then she asked, "So what are you going to name her?"
"I don't know," said the roomie.
I was sitting quietly in the kitchen up till then, I said: "That would be a good name."
"Meteorite?" they both asked at the same time in horror.
"What's another name for a meteorite?" I asked. "A Shooting Star, we can call her Star for short."And that's how she got her name.
We still can't pet her, she's too feral for that, but we can admire her from a safe distance!
Here's a pix of Shooting Star, the snowshoe siamese.

She looks so warm and cozy there. I am chilled today. I think every cat should have a lap, but it sounds as if she will not stand for it.

Oh she is beautiful ā thanks for introducing her to us! Iām sure in time she will become more tame ā cats generally take a while to settle in to a new place, and if she has had a bad start in life, it will take her a while to trust peope again, - but with love and kindness she will do it. I have never kept a Siamese myself, but my friend has two and they are real characters

She's 7 & half now & showing no sign of improvement. She does come beg for food, she learned that from Hobo. The roomie was handing out bits of bread to the bread eaters in the household & she came over to see what the treat was. Couldn't see what the facination was about!

Yup, that's how Tigger was when I brought him home cept that I had a room ready for him to stay in till he calmed down and let me pet him. Now he's just a flaming streak thruout the house getting into all kinds of trouble. He still bounds straight up in the air, hence his name from the tiger in Winnie the Pooh. lol Of course, he will sit there and look up at me with a totally innocent face whenever I tell him he's been a bad boy yet again. -rolls eyes and laughs- Never did nor will ever regret taking him in thanks to WhiteTigress.

I've had cats like that myself...despite all the love I would have given to them, they would never be friendly and were feral like also...they would be like shooting stars as well, ducking and hiding if you came to close to them--my Missy was like that...Here is a picture of her...and it's a true wonder I was able to get this picture... don't you just love her expression and eyes??

She is so beautiful! I love her coloring. And I love your description....a siamese colored streak as she ran from one hiding spot to another. I could just picture her racing to her hiding area. I definitely think her name fits her to a tee. Thanks for sharing Star's story.

Shooting Star is a brilliant name and such a beautiful coloured cat.
I find that cats are all give and take, they'll take the food and love that we give them and sometimes when they feel like it give alittle love and affection back.

She's a very pretty cat. Maybe with a little love and patience, you can actually pick her up and cuddle her someday. That's a great choice of a name.

Well, we've had a few occasions when we've actually gotten to pet her, besides the ones caught on the run. On the roomie's birthday a few yrs ago, she got to pet her for a whole 20 minutes!
As for picking the little darling up, well, we're rather attached to our skin to want to do it too often!
