Where should I send my writing?

I've been writing for a while, but I can't find a paying outlet for any of my work. I write nonfiction and poetry. Do you any of you know where I could send my work and make some money? Keep in mind that I'm open to both in print and online outlets. Thanks.

Is triond any good? Is it like helium. I've written articles in Helium and in 6 months i've only earned $.58 cents.

well associated content and helium pay for popularity you can write poetry and nonfiction there but they dont pay for each poem you have to get views and make the writing popular. the best thing is to write a lot and then give out your link everywhere you can http://www.helium.com/user/show/145397 http://www.constant-content.com/?aref=10315 if you want to join helium i have to send you an invite so please let me know

there are a few sites that pay for quality articles. The best one i have heard of is called associated content but i have also heard they also only pay Americans, so still might be worth having a look at blessed be

I work as freelance writer for both online and print formats. I write for Associated Content, but as mentioned earlier you have to be a US citizen to get paid. Pick up a copy of the Writers Market or visit their website. This is a listing of places, publishers, and magazines that will pay for content. As for poetry, it is much harder to get paid for. There is a Poet's Market book as well. You can also subscribe to www.winningwriters.com to get a listing of poetry contests. Literary magazines are another outlet. These are most often published by University departments. Every place is different as far as the content they want, so you will have to search for your niche. To break into print, start with smaller magazines. They do not pay as much, but usually more willing to publish things from unknown writers. Also, newspapers are good way to break in. Again, some pay and some do not, depending on the paper.
