I am an American .My hoe is in New York.We start to celebrate the New Year on december 31.Some people have a party .They wear a mask and a costume.At midnight everyone will let us see their faces. Some of us like to watch a special TV show on December 31st.We have an exciting celebration in Times Square.This is in the center of the city .,Just before midnight,we see a ball drop on a pole.The ball is very bright .When the ball is at the bottom,it says."New Year."People cheer and say ,"Happy New Year!" On New Year's Day ,we often vistit friends or family.We often watch a special football game together on TV.There is a parade before the game.It is called the Tournament of the Roses .It began in 1887in California.Every year there is a differnt theme for the parade.Thousands of people take par in the parade.Leaders of the city and famous people also take part.There is a special float with over 250,000 flowers.Everyone enjoys watching this event!
