Is it still around?? My goodness!! I can't imagine that it would ever die! In fact, if you really do you your homework, on the net, you'd see that it is alive and well...flourishing througbout the US and expanding in other countries as well. In Europe it is quite prevalent.
Myself, I am a submissive 24/7 and am owned by a wonderful Master who takes amazing care of me and loves me dearly. The lifestyle has been around for several years and in the last 10 to 15 has really been surfacing to the "outside: world and coming out of the underground that we have been forced to hide in, as so many other alternative lifestylers have had to do.
Myself, I do not mind the hiding. It adds to the mystery of it all. I also practice and live in other alternative lifestyles so being an "underground-er" is rather enjoyable, but really if you do your research you will find that we are everywhere...and doing quite well. *wink*

nothing to do about research i was asking because research showed me its slacking off so I decided to ask the question to see if it was still something ppl are interested in doing you know like fashion all phases pass. i was a sub myself a while ago and alot of the places i knew about are now closed. So i had to ask.

It's still around. I'm from LA. Can't tell you how many subs come to be dominated to the place I work at.

I became interested in it when i was friends with someone that was...i didn't quite get a good understanding of how to relate to that person when we were just in every day conversation as far as that goes...treating her as a submissive in some instances i think damaged our friendship i was pretty confused about it all...sometimes when that didn't work the way i thought it might or hoped it might, i showed a side of me that was
pretty weak and i think that was a huge turn off but i guess i'll really never know...i think people should say what they want in relationships but how can you really know how a person is until you meet them in person anyhow and we never met...it frustrates me that i tried to say things to make her feel good about herself and show her the respect she deserved but sometimes i failed she always had alot of good things to say about me...
