Will Kobe finally get traded?

Kobe Bryant reportedly met with Jerry Buss in Spain and he restated that he wanted to get traded. Rumors have it that he prefers to go to either New York or Chicago. Bryant has a no trade clause making it easier for him to go where he wants and the Lakers would prefer to send him to the East in the event of a trade. Share your thoughts... Will he or won't he??

Trading Kobe would be stupid with a capital TUPID! Like the Iverson deal, you're not going to get back true market value for a player of his caliber. Unlike Iverson, you'd be trading a guy in his absolute prime instead of a guy just about ready to hit the downside of his career like AI. Additionally, if you limit the trading partners to eastern conference teams, you've taken away about the only teams who have assets that could adaquately compensate the Lakers (Mavs - Dirk and Devin Harris, Suns - Marion and a couple first rounders including Hawks pick next season, or TWolves - Garnett and maybe a pick). The Knicks have absolutely no one on their team I would touch with a ten meter science pole outside of David Lee. The Bulls have already made Deng untouchable so there's no way to get close to even value out of them. If I'm Jerry Buss, I keep Kobe (LA must have a big name star) and use the pull of Hollywood to get Gilbert Arenas as a free agent next year. Kobe, Odom, and agent zero in purple and yellow would make for a pretty competitive team next season.

It would definitely be stupid but it would be better than keeping an unhappy Kobe who can opt out of his contract after 2 yrs and go elsewhere. The lakers would prefer to trade kobe to the east so that they would only have to face him twice in a season instead of 4. With the Knicks, in the event of a Kobe trade, they're talking about putting toether Frye, Lee, Crawford and Malik Rose. The only player Isiah says is untouchable is Eddy Curry. With Arenas, it would be exciting but the Lakers would also have to think about the salary cap and if Agent Zero wants to go to play in LA.

That's exactly what my cousin is saying. He's a lakers season ticket holder and he's complaining that he's not getting his money's worth. The season tix are expensive and he expects the lakers to win. He was telling me that Jerry Buss sent a letter saying that the lakers will be a better team next year but he wants to see it for himself. I think lamar odom was supposed to be that complement to kobe as a secondary scorer but the thing is it hasn't worked out with odom having injury after injury. Who would the lakers give up in exchange for hibachi? i think things have to match up in terms of salary and the wizards would definitely demand talent in exchange for arenas

I would rather have Kobe for two disgruntled seasons than the walking corpses the Knicks are offering. Kobe is upset because the Lakers haven't done anything since Shaq left to give him a chance to win. I'm not a Kobe apologist by any means and he certainly deserves what he gets after running Shaq out of town, but I can certainly understand his frustration with Mitch. His big move last season was bringing in Kwame Brown! They need a second scoring threat - not someone to replace Kobe but someone to compliment him. I don't think he would be so selfish with the ball if there was a guy on that team who could constantly make a jumper and create his own shot. Oddly enough, Mitch probably made a smart move in not trading for Kidd. Kobe complains, but how would Kidd be an asset in the triangle offense? The point guard doesn't have a major role in that set except hitting spot up jumpers (not Kidd's forte). What the Lakers are left with is a disgrunted superstar surrounded by mediocre talent. In the East, that's good enough to get you to the NBA Finals (see: Lebron James). In the West it doesn't even get you in the playoffs. Does Mitch need to make a move and get a free agent like the Hibachi next season? Absolutely. BTW: everyone wants to play in LA, Gilbert included. Does Kobe need to shut up and play ball? Absolutely. Does Isaiah have a chance of getting Kobe? Absolutely not!

I think it would be wise to trade him- I;m a huge Kobe fan- and I'm a NY Knicks fan being that I live in NY- I hope he comes here! Come on LA let him go!

Who would the knicks let go in exchange for kobe? isiah already made it clear that eddy curry is untouchable and the lakers will definitely want equal talent in exchange for kobe

I think it would be in the best interest of the Lakers to trade him so he will not be a distraction to the team anymore. I think his teammates would want to stop hearing him crying and complaining. They will probably play better as a team with him not there, like the Sixers were without Iverson. Whoever gets him will have to give up a lot to get him or wait til he becomes a free agent.

I agree. Kobe outright defied the Lakers franchise when he went public demanding a trade and add the video of Kobe cussing out Mitch Kupchack and Bynum saying that the Lakers should have traded for Kidd even if it meant letting Bynum go. Trading Kobe for players who know how to both pass and score like a Steve Nash will benefit the Lakers more than keeping an unhappy Kobe Bryant.

Oddly, Kobe was more of a team player this year the any other in his career. The LAKERS will not replace him, but they have better trade far away from their direct competitors in the West..revenge (paybacks) are hell!

That's why in the event of a Kobe trade, the lakers want to send him to the East.. Possible destinations for Kobe are NY, Chicago and Orlando the magic because of their salary cap flexibility.

The Lakers will never trade Kobe. They got rid of Shaq so they could build the team around him. Kobe is the Lakers Michael Jordan and they are going to do what they can to keep him and satisfy him.

I say probably not, because the Lakers would have to be crazy to trade Kobe, it would be like trading Michael Jordan in his prime, the thought is just insane. How do you get equal value for a player like Kobe? Answer=It's impossible, no matter what trade you pull off.

As much as everyone thinks Kobe should be traded, it will never happen. At least not this year. There is no way the Lakers would trade him because he sells too many tickets. They would rather win 30 games with an unhappy Kobe than win 40 games without him.

Addidas to Nike then 8 to 24, then Lakers to ???? maybe Bulls... i dont know but sounds interesting. Kobe and Big Ben together at Chicago, a scorer and a defender... just like Jordan and Rodman. Anyways, here's a link to a Bull-ish sounding Jordan wannabe Kobe Bryant -- http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/cs-070616bulls,1,2771203.story?coll=cs-bulls-headlines

I personally don't think he'll get traded at least that's what I wish. It's a tough call, but either way my respect for Kobe has definitely gone down after his reactions to these recent issues that he have with the Lakers. That's however not to say Jerry Bauss is not a slimy person either. Seems to me that he's just trying to calm Kobe down and not necessary valueing his opinions.
