"Many are the afflictions of the righteous; But Jehovah delivereth him out of them all." (ASV)
A lot of people have an unfortunate misconception about becoming a Christian. They think that once you're saved, your life should be trouble-free. Then they look at the Christians they know, see that this is not the case, and are put off by it. In truth, salvation does not ward off earthly troubles. In fact, sometimes it multiplies them. The good news though is that through every problem we may face in our Christian walk, we can hold the assurance that we are not alone. God will see us through.
Think about that thought for a moment: God will see us through. We all know what a blessing it can be to have a friend or family member by our side in times of trouble. We've seen the comfort to be gotten from a hug or a kind word. How much greater then is the comfort we can have from the Creator of us all? How much more will His loving kindness soothe us when we hurt or calm us when we are upset? And He is never more than a prayer away!
Rejoice then, fellow Christians, at the marvelous love of our God. Don't try to hide away your troubles or pretend that they don't exist. Rather reveal your deepest darkest fears to God and let him shine a light on them. Tell Him about your sorrows and allow Him to help ease the pain. Cry on His shoulder and know that He holds your life in the palm of His hand and nothing gets by Him. There is nothing our God can't do, and no trouble or worry is too great for His awesome power to help us through it.

It has always escaped me, how do non believers make it through grief and hard times? I just lean on my God soooo much. Every day that I wake up is a blessing and another message from God saying, "Here's another day for you, another gift from Me." Thank you God.

Thank you so much for this post. It really hit home with what has been going on lately in my life. Sometimes I just get so discouraged and so does my husband. We just sometimes feel like we are never going to get ahead financially. Everytime we get some money saved up something comes along and there it goes. I really appreciate this today and I pray that the Lord will continue to use you.

....the path to rigteousness really is full of pain and suffering....but the reward is great!......
but that doesn't mean that life of being a Christian is all about afflictions, for God in His written words promised that we can even taste the life of heaven even while on earth...and i should say being a Christian is a great thing even though a great responsibility is on your shoulder...there is the inspiration you could look up to...in times of trial you could alwas look up and say, "be my strength, and give me the courage and patience to go along this way"......................
.......as the scripture says, "seek ye first the kingdom of GOd, and His righteousness...and all these things shall be added unto you"...

Psalm 34:19 should be an encouragement to all Christians. God has never promised that if we follow Him we will live a life of ease. What He promises is that He will always be there to help us through. He will be a constant companion. It reminds me of the poem "Footprints".

I'm going through monumental troubles right now, and in my heart and head I always know God is with me and He is using these situations to better me and deepen my faith in Him. But I really appreciate the reminder. People have often asked me why their problems have not been solved when they became a Christian. It is an absolute myth that your troubles will go away, but a person will never have a better Friend to help us through them. And we don't want to "whine" to others, and when we do they for sure don't want to hear it. Well, God prefers we talk and "whine" to Him. We often find many of our fears are unfounded.

Hi bungirl. I am a devoted Christian and was baptized as a born again 3 years ago. The first year of my life as a Christian went well. The second year, things began to change.
Unexpected circumstances continue to sprout like mushroom and I need to keep a tight vigil on my faith. It is not easy and doubt and fear was never out of my mind.
I'm quite fortunate though to have a few good Christian friends who never failed to remind me that God is always there for me.

Truly I will rejoice in God's goodness and love for me, God is really an awesome God and His mighty power proves us everything that we can fully trust Him and no doubt God is worth more than just trusting itself, He deserves all our thanksgiving and praises...nothing could ever compare towards our awesome God. To God be the glory and honor, forever.
