Do you ever change the subject if the question is too hard to answer?

My boyfriend is guilty of this.
We'll be talking and then a really personal or difficult question will come up and he’ll ask if we can change the subject. It drives me nuts because I never feel like we cover any serious territory unless I press the issue. If I explain, why, exactly, I want to know his answer he'll usually oblige me, but it's very rare that he'll answer a hard question without hesitation.
What about you? Do you try to change the subject when things get too serious or are too tough to talk about, or do you surge through and talk about them even though you make you uncomfortable?

My boyfriend wont change the subject, he just usually wont say anyhting at all. It drives me nuts that if we have a serious conversation about our relatinship, Im the one that has to do all the talking while he sits in silence. Sometimes i just wish hed pour out his heart to me.

*LOL* Mine does THAT, too. He says he's thinking, but I really wish he'd start thinking out loud. A conversation that could be settled in half an hour gets dragged out to almost 3 because of all the internalizing he does.

A lot of people do that. Both my daughter and I are bad for telling a story, we need to tell you everything we did leading up to the punch. I also know when there's something I don't want to answer I'll ask, "Do I have to answer that?" I will answer when I have to as I don't appreciate lies, but I try to work around things, not often but I have.

No, I dont change the subject. I try to answer it as honestly as I can. The problem really is not with what you say but the problem is how the person interprets your answer. women never accept a answer when a guy has had to think about it. Men are very cautious in answering a difficult question. Its in their nature. While women would speak it all without worrying about the guys emotion because they think men can handle it all.
