I consider the boy band era as being started in the 80s. Therefore, I think that the New Kids on the Block were the original boy band. That's the only one that I remember that I would consider a boy band at the time. I think they are the ultimate boy band in my book. I was in love with them when I was younger. lol

i think it's between New Edition and New Kids On the Block. Lou Pearlman was inspired to create a band like New kids On the Block and that is why he decided to create BSB, and when Lou Pearlman saw the success of BSB he decided to create NSYnc and some other boybands.
i love the Backstreet boys the most.

i love the backstreet boys. i waited 11 years just to see them in person. i think, when the backstreet boys got popular, other bands started to get popular too like nsync, westlife, a1 and the like which i think they have the same concepts in songs and the like.
bsb is still the best selling boy bands of their time! they've been a band more than a decade.

I think maybe the beatles but bsb's really playing an important part in the boyband era.a lot of popular boy bands r influenced by bsb, westlife is the example.their song styles have a lot in common.
I agree with u that bsb's the best of the best!
