I saw this on the TV news last night, & ot was in the newspaper this morning.
At Milan Airport, hares & rabbits have been causing difficulties to planes & radar. The animals ad been passing in front of the ground radar, & creating false alarms.
So authorities closed the airport for three hours as staff & volunteers went on a "hare" race. Eventually 57 hares & four rabbits were caught. They were taken to nearby nature reserves.
Have a look at the great photo attached.

Here at the Minneapolis International Airport in Minnesota they have brought in a lot of different types of hawks as predators for this same type of problem. No more rabbits etc getting sucked up into jet engines now. It seems to have done the trick. I wonder if the news or airport commision reports how many hawks have been sucked into the jets engines though? Hmmm?
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Thats good thinking, to use natural predators.
Our airport has problems with flocks of birds, & yes, they do get sucked up.

Seems airport is near forest zone thats why hare etc animals are running on airport. These are small creatures but can cause major damage to Aeroplane and passenges at a time whenever rabbit etc collided at airport. Airport authorities must take precautionary measures and try to shift such animals to far area. They can take help of forest department also. Even after shifting, there is every chance of returning back so monitoring for some time is essential to ensure complete shifting. Generally it is seen that animals do not forget their natural place at once.

They returned the hares to the same forest reserve, which I thought was silly as they will most likely return.

I saw this on the news and thought it so funny. They were trying to heard those critters off the runways. The bunnies ears where so long, we wished we had a few of those. We do have our own rabbits and are glad for it. Ours have never been a problem though. Thanks for sharing this with all of Mylot and giving me another chuckle.

I wouldn't mind betting that you hit the spot. Overpopulation makes a lot of sense.

They didn't report why they congregated at the airport, but another My Lotter suggested over population.

Wow, isn't that something. You sure would not ever in your wildest dreams think that animals could be that much of a problem. I am glad they took them somewhere else instead of hurting them.

Yes I was watching it on TV and I thought it was pretty neat. I glad they were set free and did not end up on the dinner table.

LOL! This is hilarious to be honest.
I mean, we have all these so called terrorist threats, yet in Italy, everyone at the airport is in danger because of rabbits and hares running riot on the runways.
Thanks for sharing this story though. If only everything in life were so simple as catching a few Rabbits and Hares to be relocated lol.
