How do you handle Pharisees?

I do not intend to offend anyone but it does bother me when I encounter people who tend to be so self-righteous. I have friends who are of different faiths and I respect what they believe in but sometimes they get to my nerves when they make it appear that they are more righteous and more prayerful, thus more favored, than the rest. It is actually good to profess your faith openly but not to the extent that you would put down those who do not share the same faith as yours. Do you have ecounters with the Pharisees also? How do you handle them?
