I'm not really sure what the difference between a condominium unit and an apartment except that an apartment is probably smaller. Actually, I would really prefer to live in a condo because it sounds cooler. Just kidding... I would prefer condos because you have as much space as you can like having a small house. I would prefer a loft condo though since I like the idea of having a loft in my home. A condo wouldn't be too big and wouldn't be too small either. The building would also probably have all the amenities I like... swimming pools, gyms and such.

Well, the main difference is a condo has several owners like they buy a unit and decorated or furnish it the way they want whereas an apartment is owned by just one person and so it has fewer furnitures.

I prefer to live in a condominium because you can talk to the owner and request for things that you need for the room. Here in Thailand, condominiums are most fully furnished that's why people prefer it. In apartments they only provide bed, locker and dresser. Another thing is that, condominiums charge lower electric rates than apartments. It is because condos are considered as residential whereas apartments are commercial so they have different electric rate about 50% difference. Imagine that?

if you are going to look for a place, i'd say (if you can afford it) go to one of those "rent-to-own" places. if you are going to stick with an apartment, you are just burning money for rent. in the end, the place will not be yours anyway.
