What is the "S"-shaped and the "=" symbols on Heroes?

What is the S-shaped symbol? It's on the sword and on Kenshi's flag. It seems to keep popping up. Also amongst the heroes, it seems like Nikki is the only one who has it on her shoulder. Are there other heroes with the same mark? Did they already reveal what it means?
Also, I'm not sure if they discussed it but there is another symbol shaped like "=". What is it? The policeman and radioactive guy both have it. I can't remember if they discussed it already. I don't think it's a tracking device because they already revealed that Molly is the tracking device.

The "S" shaped symbol means "Godsend" as stated by Ando, and appears to be very ancient in origin. However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet as to what the symbol actually means, it is currently part of the mystery.
As for the scars on Ted Sprauge and Matt Parkman (as well as Hanna and possible other characters), this is part of the OLD tracking system used before "the company" got hold of Molly. It was caused by the use of a piece of equipment that injected unique radioactive Isotropes into the various people which coould then be tracked via satellite.
